All Creatures Great and Small, Bug Bites

Invisible Biting Bug Syndrome (IBBS)

I said before that Invisible Biting Bug Syndrome (IBBS) is reaching epic numbers. I have received a half dozen emails in the last week from people suffering from this, and I am not a doctor! I believe, after looking at this for many years that I have an idea what the problem is. I am going to post the email I just got (without her name) and my response on my fan page. If this is something of interest to you, you can visit it there. Also, I believe that the causes of this syndrome in people may also affect our dogs and cats as they are exposed to the same chemicals we are. Have you ever saw your pet scratch or just cry in pain and not have any idea what the problem was? Maybe animals get IBBS also.

If so, we need to deal with it as well.

“I am being eaten alive and I have been everywhere, and nobody says I have bugs. I don’t know where to turn, who to turn to, what to do, I am so desperate. I have gone to an entomologist and he said I have carpet beetles, but he also said they don’t bite and that they are big and visible. I brought in samples of bugs that I have literally ripped from my skin and he said none of them were bugs.

I am NOT crazy, I have never had a problem like this in my entire life, I don’t think I see things, I don’t hear things, I am not crazy and nobody will believe me. I am being kicked out of my apartment because I demanded they spray for these things, I have lost friends, I have lost credibility with everyone.

They are little red things and they are in my bed, in my clothes, they are in my hair, and specifically, they get in my private areas. I have been to a doctor and the marks on my body resemble bite marks, but they said that if it isn’t the obvious for a doctor, which would be bed bugs, lice, ticks or scabies, then they don’t know what they are. The health department said that they don’t have a “bug man” and that I needed to take samples to the entomologist, which I did.

I will go to my grave telling people I am being eaten alive, I don’t care what anyone tells me, I know this is real My church Pastor even said he would help me if I went to their therapist, of course, they would pay!!! They have me on tranquilizers, and want me to go on an antidepressant, and my dog, who is a companion animal (I am disabled) has been taken away and is in a shelter until this is resolved, I am afraid I will lose him.

I don’t have a dime to my name from fighting these things, I buy insecticide by the case, I use a bottle of OFF every night on my body, and I am now passing out from using this DEET, they tell me not to use it, but have no alternative.

The entomologist told me that if it was a bug, he would know it, but he didn’t know it. I have literally brought a tape (scotch tape) of these things that I have ripped from my vaginal area (and I bled) to show him, and he said it was “dirt.” I am an EXTREMELY clean person, and that just isn’t true. They are even on my towels, they are in my drawers where my clothes are. The exterminator saw one once and said it was a mite, but then “changed his mind.” The entomologist said that they are NOT bird mites and he has NEVER heard of a bird mite infestation and spider mites don’t bite.

Please, please help me, I’m getting sick from this physically, my skin looks like a battle field, I can’t sleep, and everyone thinks I’m crazy. If you want samples, I will send them, but they have to be on scotch tape because they are so small that I can’t “catch” them. I will pay you what I can, I can make payments because now I have to have money to move.

PLEASE help me, I am a Christian woman, and I have pictures I can send, but I have to text them because I don’t know how to get them onto my computer from my phone, I don’t think my phone has that capability. I am not a crack-pot, I am not a nut case, I am desperate. Anything you ask me to send you to prove who I am, I will. I will be waiting for your reply, I pray to God you believe me.”

My Response:
I am convinced after studying this syndrome for many years that it is caused by chemicals in our bodies, not by bugs or fungi. Many chemicals can interact with our nerves and send false messages to our brains. For instance, some chemicals can tell our brain something is crawling on us or biting us, and then we react by scratching, and worse yet, spraying ourselves with pesticides or chemically loaded skin products, which just exacerbates the problem. Some people describe it as a feeling of bugs or parasites scuttling around beneath their skin, accompanied by open lesions that heal slowly and ooze out blue, black or white fibers that can be several millimeters long. These fibers appear like pliable plastic. They can be as fine as spider silk, yet they are strong enough to distend the skin when pulled and elicit shooting pains when you try to remove them. Some of these fibers have been analyzed and they contain along with other substances, bovine DNA. That means the chemicals causing the fibers probably came from drinking milk or eating beef from chemically fed cattle. Vitaly Citovsky, Professor of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Stony Brook University in New York, discovered that the fibers also contain the substance Agrobacterium, a genus of gram-negative bacteria capable of genetically transforming not only plants, but also other species, including human cells.

Here is what you need to do to try to solve this problem.

First, never expose yourself to pesticides or insect repellents that contain DEET. These products have a lot of chemicals that can harm you. If you use them, they can destroy your immune system making you susceptible to other products. Don’t let pesticides be applied in your home or your workplace and try not to frequent any public building like a restaurant that has recently been treated with pesticides.

Never eat meat from a factory farm. This means almost all meat found in a supermarket or Walmart. If you have to eat meat, eat only meat from small farms or ranches. Never eat vegetables or fruits that have been sprayed with pesticides. If the vegetables and fruits don’t say 100% Organic on the label, don’t eat them.

Don’t eat any food that contains genetically modified organisms (GMOs). One expert, Jeffrey Smith, links GMOs to toxins, allergies, infertility, infant mortality, immune dysfunction, stunted growth, and death.

Don’t consume anything that contains aspartame, such as Equal or Nutrasweet. As a result of its unnatural structure, your body processes the amino acids found in aspartame very differently from a steak or a piece of fish. The amino acids in aspartame literally attack your cells, even crossing the blood-brain barrier to attack your brain cells, creating a toxic cellular overstimulation called excitotoxicity. Also wheat, dairy, and soy contain exceptionally high levels of glutamic and aspartic acid, which makes them all potentially excitotoxic. It is quite possible these chemicals are communicating false messages to your brain, indicating biting bugs that aren’t there.

Don’t eat food out of cans or drink water or other beverages from plastic bottles. The lining of most metal cans has a thin plastic liner that contains bisphenol-A. Bisphenol-A, or BPA, is a chemical thought to increase the risk of infertility, cancer, diabetes, and even heart disease. This chemical is also in plastic bottles. While bisphenol-A may not be directly related to IBBS, it is a chemical that can have a adverse affect on people. There is no reason to weaken your immune system with any chemicals that can be avoided.

Avoid cotton products if at all possible, particularly tampons if you are a woman. In the United States alone, approximately 600 thousand tons of pesticides and chemical fertilizers are applied to cotton fields each season. To bring this fragile plant to harvest, it is heavily sprayed 30 to 40 times a season, in extreme cases, with pesticides so poisonous they gradually render fields barren. Some of this cottonis used to make furniture, mattresses, tampons, swabs, and cotton balls. The average American woman will use 11,000 pesticide treated tampons or sanitary pads during her lifetime. Use only natural tampons.

Don’t use cleaning products such as soaps that contain triclosan or triclocarban. These chemicals are endocrine disrupters. They are widely used in antibacterial soaps, body washes, lip glosses, deodorants, dog shampoos, and even toothpastes. Some brands that contain them are Dial, Colgate, Lever 2000 and Vaseline.

There is no guarantee that avoiding all of these products will solve your problem, but it certainly may help. It may take awhile for the chemicals to be removed from your system, so don’t expect an overnight reaction. You may have to give it several months before you see the symptoms of IBBS start to disappear.

In some cases, the symptoms may not go away. There are three possible scenarios to IBBS (or Morgellons). One could be mites in the house. If you treat the house with a non-toxic product such as Greenbug, and the problem doesn’t go away, then it is most likely chemically related as stated above. If that doesn’t produce results, then it is probably psychological, which is possible in rare cases.

  1. I live in Winnipeg , i had bugs that i couldn’t see that were biting my feet ,my back, i was going insane, they went away, again , i’m very clean about myself, the doctors couldn’t see anything so here i am putting the word out.
As it were , i was most likely a host of several bugs as i still have what seems to be some kind of little brown ,thin things on my head i think , all i know is i have what loos like a spider silk around my body , it seems to be in my right eye as well, are there bugs that you heard of that live on humans that resemble anything that i said ?

    • Those aren’t bugs. You have what is known as Morgellons. What you see are bacteria that were living in your body. You have trillions of bacteria in your body and they can actually communicate with your brain. When they are threatened by chemicals, such as anti-biotics, they make small masses and come out through your pores. They can tell the brain through their neurotransmitters that you are being bitten or have a crawling feeling, even though there are no real “bites”. When they exit your body, the masses spread and they are totally invisible to the naked eye. You would need a very strong compound microscope to see one of them. If you are eating meat, you need to stop unless it is absolutely organic. Factory farm meats are loaded with anti-biotics which will have an affect on your gut bacteria. Also, don’t eat any genetically modified foods. Basically only eat organic foods and never expose yourself to pesticides.

This is a common condition, believe it or not.

      • My daughter was exposed to chemicals while treating for head lice, Now she has Morgellons symptoms. She sprayed all her furniture repeatedly with pyrmethrin spray. Should she just throw the furniture out? We are doing a rigid diet. Thanks

      • I would certainly get the furniture out of her house. Maybe someone else can really clean it and use it, but she probably shouldn’t be exposed to any pesticides anywhere.

      • Thanks for your help. Can you tell me how to find a link for your information about diet and things you recommend?

      • What if its happening to two other people in my family and i.

        Posted by eddie | May 5, 2012, 11:59 pm
      • I would assume that you are all exposed to the same chemicals, either in the air or in your food or both and you are all reacting the same way. It does happen to members of a family occasionally.

      • Hi I thought I might throw something into the mix here regarding morgellons and invisible bugs that bite. Ihave had morgellons going on 5 1/2 years now and I have seen a lot of strange stuff tegarding it. I totally agree with your post that mostly this is a chemical and or toxin build up causing the itching and stings. That said over time having this chemical or toxin build up wreaks havoc on your immune system and over time it is not hard to see one getting infested with parasites, much like an aids patient does because of a weakened immune system. I tried killing the bugs for years, that method rarely works, what finally worked for me was just like this blog says I avoided chemicals as much as i could, I bought a steamer for cleaning and disinfecting with, i avoid GM foods, and Ive increased my intake of salt using sea salt… Oh I also had my mercury fillings removed a little over a year ago. I am now completely symptom free, it took a year of avoiding chemicals, eating right, exercise to get here, but its possible. you can kill the bugs forever, but it you dont have a strong immune system whats to keep them from just coming back. Try treating it for a month as an exposure problem and see if you feel better or not, im guessing a large number of you will.

      • I know this is an old comment and reply by you, but morgellons is a delusionaly parasitosis, only in so far as what is actually called a parasite. The problem the people with itching skin and bites/stings that doesnt respond to treatment is not a bug. It is Dictyostelium Discoideum (slime mold). CDC has information on it infecting only the eyes of humans, but that is no longer the case, it is infecting skin, sinuses, throats, lungs and ears. It comes with its own bacteria and fungus and the fungus is what you feel as crawling. You eventually attract bugs that are attracted to the fungus which is why so many people find things like collembola, fungus gnats…Bugs that normally do not inhabit humans. The lesions some get that heal very slowly but dont become infected is because the dictyo causes them and then eats the bacteria keeping it fed and you a nice little farm for it. Get a microscope and see for yourself, or just look on youtube for dictyostelium and morgellons. I know a lot of people will say hogwash, but its the truth that is why when stuff is tested it comes up as nothing, the insects and insect parts are made by the dictyo, it having the unique ability to use dna from any animal or insect it comes in contact with, that is why it is commonly used in medical testing because human dna can be used in it to see how it reacts. There is also a type of fungus that can make fake insects, I dont recall its name, but it is a genetucakkt nodified fungus used in some bio-insecticides. But im sure the Bugman knows a lot more about that than i do.. good luck everyone i hope you can get better soon

      • So if its “slime mold”, how the heck do I get it to STOP?? And where have you been for a year???? I had an issue with mold in my house right before this started, makes complete sense!!!! But, how do ii treat it??? Antifungals?? Which one?? Thank you!!!!

      • Kimberly I unfortunately do not have that answer for you or myself, I have heard of methods, but not tried as I cannot find a Dr to supervise. if you go to youtube and search for “Morgellons Dictyostelium Discoideum” and look at the second result you can message me and i can show you a group where they are discussing the dyctyo and what is working and what might work. The first result you see is also a good one, but who knows how much is correct, after all most of us are just people with this and have left to solve it on our own. Carnicom institute has started up a research study and was looking for participants, im not sure if they still are, but I was acccepted into it last week so they might be still. They will pay for all the testing and lab work, only catch is that although you will get the results of your lab work, it is being turned into carnicom in an anonymous manner so you will not get a Dr’s interpetation of the results or what you labs mean, I figure at least you will get some specific numbers and you can take these to your own Doc. hopefully this comment will be approved and you find it, i couldnt respond directly to you for some reason? take care

  2. some people thinks that morgellons are in our blood, but i don´t think so.

    Posted by stilvivo | April 2, 2012, 7:20 pm
    • Its not. Morgellons is the result of a chemical reaction to bacteria in our system. Mostly from chemically loaded foods we eat such as factory farm meat.

    • iT IS SO SAD NOT TO BE BELIEVED. mY INSECT BITES PLUS MITES HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED BY A BIOPSY AND YET NO ONE BEIEVES ME EITHER. I HAVE COLLECTED MANY SAMPLES AND THE EXTERMINATOR SAID THEY ARE NOT BUGS. HAS ANYONE EVER THOUGHT OF THE INJUSTICE TO THE PERSON IN PAIN, AND i HAVE ALSO BEEN DISSAPPOINTED BY THE DR’S
DISINTEREST ONLY TO ASSUME LESS INTAKE OF MONEY FOR THESE CASES. I AM STRIVING FOR JUSTICE AND PERHAPS ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES AS YES IT HAS BEEN PROVEN THAT i HAVE BEEN BITTEN BUT THE CONDO ASSOCIATES WILL NOT HELP ME. I STILL HAVE BUGS WITH SKIN INFECTIONS.

      • If you have bugs, then take them to another pest person or a university to an entomologist. None of them are invisible and should be identifiable by someone who is competent in entomology or acarology. It is possible you are having a chemical reaction to something as chemicals will cause your internal bacteria to exit through your skin and it looks like bites. Read the entire post on this to help determine what it is you have and take the samples to someone who is knowledgeable.

        Posted by askthebugman | July 23, 2012, 10:53 pm
      • I believe you Julie. Very few people suffer from these microscopic bugs. If everyone was afflicted, it would be front page news on the New York Times. No one can really understand the problem unless you are being bitten all day and can’t really see the bugs. Bugs on your couch, car, hair, and sofa. There are 6-7 possible bugs that can cause similar problems. The symptoms are slightly different. I think the majority of people are suffering from one of these: some type of mite, thrips, colemboa, morgellons, springtails, fleas etc. I wish I could see my biting pests. They are minature flying bugs about the size of this period. They bite and multiply quickly. I can only seem them in strong sunlight with a magnifying glass. I have found very small white cocoons in my clothing. I’ve narrowed down my problem to thrips, or parasitic wasps which are 1/100th of inch in size. Just found out the agriculture industry breeds these wasps by the billions to neutralize agriculture pests. Hmm wonder if there is a correlation between the breeding of these pests and the sudden onslaught of microscopic flying pests that non one can identify?? Self help is the key. I have found the majority of the pest control industry cannot imagine anything that is not in their playbook of standard bugs. It’s sort of sad but very true.

        Posted by NW | August 10, 2012, 12:36 am
      • Springtails and Collembola are the same thing and they don’t bite people. They feed on vegetation, mold and fungus. Thrips will occasionally bite people if they are outside where the thrips are living. Bird mites and rat mites will bite people but they won’t breed on them or infest them. This is all nonsense spread by idiotic websites like birdmite.org. Fleas will bite but they are visible, and morgellon’s isn’t a bug, its a condition. Parasitic wasps aren’t capable of biting people or stinging people. They are too small and only go after insects they parasitize. No chance of being infested with parasitic wasps. No-see-ums are biting midges that are very small and can bite, but they live in areas where there is a lot of moisture as they breed in damp soil. Most of these biting symptoms are from chemicals causing a reaction in your body with your own bacteria.

    • Im certain morgellons doesnt start in the blood but after it takes over so to speak I believe it definately affects blood chemistry. Ive been suffering from Morgellons after a trip to Northern California. In the 4 months since I am almost unrecognizable to myself. Lost so much weight I look skeletal. Suffered the biting, stinging, itching etc. Hair loss, fatigue, depression and recently thin silver wirey things out of skin. Also metal flakes of various color. The little black specks in my bed and the white plastic stickerlike stuff in my clothing. I too have been accused of being delusional by family as I lost my husband of 31 yrs to cancer in 2010 therefore they blame stress and grief for my symptoms. I now keep to myself and never mention misery to anyone Im very certain of my plight as Im sure are you. The slimemold theory makes the most scence to me. It seems to fit all of my symptoms, especially the globs of slimey gunk that floats in my bath. Sorry so gross!! good luck and hope for all !!

      • Hang in their!!! I thougtht many nites I wasn’t going to wake up the next morning, but that’s a distant memory now. As hard as it is, stay positive, eat healthy, excercise and when all looks dark, dreary and depressing, you have to bring yourseelf back b/c you have a battle ahead of you. Lay off chemicals and use natural stuff, except the salycylic acid found in Neutrogena skin care products. This helped tremendously. Pachoulli oil, rub thee skin, you’ll be amazed at how fast it heals, especially the “crescent shaped soft spots” under the skin. Its an inside-out issue and you haveto stay positive, it thrives on stress and sugar. Peppermoint oil and iodine helps as well. I stick to antifungal, antibacterial mix and now, near the end, GOD willling, 2 years of sores, they are healing. My face was a mess, healing, I lost 40 pounds, 99 pounds, back up to 112, there is hoppe, stay strong and fight this horrid disease. Vaccuum and steam the fibers in the furnituree if you have to keep it :/ dO NOT PICK anything. A whitehead isn’t a pimple and will be a huge sore if you touch it. Nip it in the bud and put oils on it, natural oils. Good luck, God blless!!. Sorry, typing on cell phne

  3. Hi, since Sunday I have started getting bit by something in bed. I feel them crawling on my head, my arms, legs, private parts, in my nose. They are not bed bugs. We have placed mattress and pillow covers in the bedrooms. My husband thnks I’m crazy but last night, I noticed he was itching. My son who cosleeps also woke up a number of times, I could tell, from itchiness. We have three chickens and I’m pretty sure they don’t have mites. I sprinkle DE food grade in their nesting and dusting areas. I had heard baby birds a month ago putside our house and no longer hear them. I think we have an infestation of bird mites. From the Internet search I’ve done, it looks like it’s very hard to get rid of, unlike rat mites which can’t live off rats/mice permanently. Please, tell me if you have done research on bird mites and humans. Can heat treatment work? My bites are pinprick red dots which have no pattern. They are not even itchy after a while, just when the bugs are crawling on me and after the initial bite. They are not bed bugs. We have not found any bugs at all. Btw, in my twenties I had bedbug bites from a Thailand trip. I got extremely itchy and bad bites from those. These are not the same. I can feel them crawling on me at different parts of the day, mainly at night in bed. I am hoping it doesn’t spread to the rest of the house. We are in el cerrito. Can you help??? Thank you.

    Posted by thequales | April 5, 2012, 3:08 pm
    • Don’t pay attention to that bird mites website. It is fundamentally wrong. Bird mites will bite if the birds have left the nest, but they won’t crawl in your nose or near your private areas. They will bite on the arms and legs, which are the easiest to get to and they won’t breed in the house. If you want to treat for them to see if they are the problem, fog the house with Greenbug for Indoors, which is a natural product made from cedar. Go to http://www.greenbugallnatural.com

If it isn’t mites, then it you are having a chemical reaction to some chemicals that you have been exposed to or more likely eaten. If you eat meat from a supermarket or Walmart, the antibiotics in the meat are reacting with your gut bacteria. The bacteria can communicate with your brain using neurotransmitters and you will have the feeling of something crawling on you or biting you, but it is actually the bacteria reacting to chemicals. Genetically modified foods cause this as well. You may want to make sure you eat organic foods only and don’t use any chlorinated water for anything.

      • I think you are wrong I found little red specs on our bed I have bites and itching also my husband has itching I took samples to a entomologist waitng for results but this is a real problem and not from walmart meat or chemicals I think that what is told when you don’t know what it is. I ‘have had this problem now for 4months also we have had bird’s nest around the house and and sever wasps nest in the sideing which I know we have to get rid of and hopefully our problem might go away

      • If you read the posts, I have always said bird mites could be the problem. Usually if no mites are found or any other pests, then it is probably a chemical reaction. If the scabs come back as mites, have your house treated for them.

      • My daughter and whole family had specks coming off on the sheets. We went to the entomologist, dermatologist, extension service and pest control. After the specks( black pepper looking) stopped, then they started with fibers coming out of the skin. All this was documented medically. There were also risk factors like birds nests and leave litter all over her yard. In her case, it was a response to chemicals but we looked into everything just like you are doing. I sure hope that you are successful in finding the cause. Now, I am very thankful that it was chemical because it was less scary than everything else you read about. The symptoms were very, very real. It resolved in three months.

      • Let us know what you find out as it helps others. I have really been interested in this since our family experienced it first hand. There were lots of things I was doing and not thinking a thing about like using lots of sunscreen loaded with chemicals. I am still using some but I am very cautious about the ingredients. Also, cleaning supplies can be very hazardous.

      • It took me 2 full months to see my parasites. Still don’t know what they are. But, I do know they fly!! Put your used clothing in a plastic bin with sealed lid. Leave it there for 3-4 days. Take the bin to a window with strong direct sunlight. Buy a 10x magnifying glass with a big lens. Let the bin sit in the sun for several minutes to get them excited. and then remove the lid. Shake the clothes and start looking. Does it fly or crawl?? Look through the clothes for more signs of bugs. You can also put a piece of white and black paper in the bottom of the bin on day 1. Your bugs could be opaque or dark colored, hence the 2 backgrounds.

    • Firstly, many one who has suffered through this has my deepest sympathy, and no, you are not crazy! Anyone who has not been the ongoing insufferable buffet for a bevy of mites best not tell someone else it is all in their head. I had a similar problem last year. I would get bitten thirty or so times a night while my husband laying next to me did not. I thought it was hives. Ater three doctors visits and a rash reaction to amoxicillin which was prescribed for who knows what reason, I got a doctor tell me i was being bitten by rat mites and that palo alto where i live in a rental home for an exhorbitant price, had lots and lots of rats owing to its proximity to the bay and the lush vegitation absolutely everywhere. Impossible i thought. And why only me for a midnight snack? This was common, she said. Rat mites prefer women. Great. I called santa clara county vector control and got the sweetest guy to come out and look for rats. Not only did he find telltale droppings and the empty shells of snails after an all night rat fest in the attic, but together we found a teeny tiny little reddish speck that he assured me was a rat mite. It looked like a speck. I could barely see the red myself, but i just happen to own a microscope Purchased for five bucks at a flea market (no pun intended), and lo and behold, we put that sucker ona slide and saw the little nasty legs and biting head! Now, for the fun part, control, elimination, and relief.
Firstly, a rat mite cannot breed on a human, but it can bit you to death for as long as it lives. The rat mits are eating you because a rat died nearby somewhere and the mites sought out a new host. They feed at night. Eliminating the rats and sealing up the house is the first order of business no matter what a pest control place tells you. No rats. No rat mites. Do not poison the rats! This is the worst thing you can do. They will die nearby and incite a whole new generation of mites to feed on you. Trap them, get a pro to do it, every day for a week until they are gone, and then seal the house, roof, etc, with screens. Clean the crap out of the house with a vacuum and pine sol. Then buy this stuff called food grade diatomaceous earth, which you sprinkle with a spoon all along the edges of the walls of each room and leave there for a week. Vacuum it up and do it again. This is the only non chemical way to kill the remaining mites. Pest control will want to poison the crap out of the rats and the mites. Do they not understand the concept of the circle of life? You can buy diatomaceous earth froma feed store because it is what is used to keep mites off fowl and is safe to ingest, just try not to inhale it.

For relief of your skin, be kind. Lavender oil gave some relief, and then I tried clove oil, and tea tree oil which did not smell so good but a few drops in each ultra hot laundry load helped. Also, each night I sprayed the sheets with orange oil from trader joes (room freshened), and sometimes I sprayed alcohol near the bed. I never resorted to deet sprayed on my legs, but I was tempted. It took several months for them to go completely away. I became a raving lunatic during that time, and it really compromised my health trying to get it resolved and solved healthfully. If I had this info first, it would have saved me a lot of pain.
I sure hope this helps! You will be itch free once again and you are not crazy! Good luck. Oh yes, and aveno oatmeal bath soaks during the day were heavenly.

  4. I think my dog might have this IBBS. I have two dogs. One is perfectly normal, the other started snapping at imaginary bugs about 6 months ago. Now she behaves as if they are chasing her. Poor thing doesn’t get any peace unless she’s sedated. Again, the other dog has no problems whatsoever. same breed, same food, same everything. Any thoughts? Could she have eaten a bug or something else outdoors that is causing this reaction? I live in a suburban area.

    • I am guessing she has a more compromised immune system and is more likely to be affected by chemicals. Perhaps change her diet and give her food that may be better. Natural foods instead of processed foods. Also, don’t use pesticides on her for fleas, etc. There are natural products you can use. See if that helps.

      • I have never been so sick of flea dope for our pets. I do not think the company cares at all they are making our animals sick.big money to be made you know..Let alone the pet food industry . Name one that would not compromise my schnauzer’s system. And what about the natural flea repellants name one I know of none that work well.

  5. I have been staying up late at nights (12:09am now) due to crawling all over my body! I feel like something, I don’t know what, is biting me. I have a BIG fear of spiders and the house I live in has tons of them! I can’t sleep because I feel that they are crawling all over my, in my ears, nostrils, and even my anal hole! I don’t know what to do. I even wake up with itchy bug bites but I looked all over my bed and clothes for bugs and can’t find any? I’ll even take showers at 1am and I’ll feel fine for the night, but then the next night (I take showers every morning, so it’s not that) I’ll feel it again! I mainly felt it for the past two days. It feels like it’s taking over my life! I feel them all over my body, I even have this weird feeling in my sholderblade that feels like something big is crawling under my skin, it doesn’t tickle like the ‘bugs’ do, but I just feel movement. Only in that place. I don’t know anymore..

    • Ben
It is the normal bacteria in your body reacting to some chemicals, probably in your foods, but possibly pesticides. The human body has over 100 trillion individual bacterial cells composed of about 40,000 species. This is incredible in itself. Recent studies have shown that bacteria are capable of communicating, not only with each other, but with our brain. Bacteria differ from human cells, fungi and other micro-organisms in that they have cell walls.
Bacteria are capaple of swarming, where they can move across surfaces in “clusters” or even form a slimy translucent coating and fiber that can attach the colony to something else. Morgellons sufferers frequently report fibers growing out of their bodies. When they pull these fibers off and send them to be identified, all you can see under a stereo microscope is a small hairlike fiber that is meaningless. One scientist, Vitaly Citovsky, Professor of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Stony Brook University in New York, discovered that the fibers contain the substance Agrobacterium, a genus of gram-negative bacteria capable of genetically transforming not only plants, but also other species, including human cells. So the fibers MD sufferers complain about are real. They have found bovine DNA in some of the fibers, which means the antibiotics they feed cattle can be getting into your system. If you eat factory farm meat or drink milk, they are loaded with antibiotics and you will get the results you see.
Some researchers are focusing on inflammatory bowel disorders to understand how the balance between the intestinal microbes and their human hosts becomes deranged. Incidence of diseases has sharply increased since about the mid-20th century, just about the time the industrialized world started eating highly processed foods and antibiotics came into widespread use. They started getting worse with the advent of genetically modified foods. Apparently the bacteria can affect the mental health of humans. For one thing, bacteria produce some of the same types of neurotransmitters that regulate the function of the human brain. The human intestine contains a network of neurons, and the gut network routinely communicates with the brain. Gut bacteria affect that communication. They can practice predation in packs by swarming as a group “cluster” over other microbes and dissolving cell walls.

There is also the mental/emotional aspect (not delusional). In a very real sense you have two brains, one inside your skull and one in your gut. Interestingly, these two organs are actually created out of the same type of tissue. During our fetal development, one part turns into our central nervous system while the other develops into our enteric nervous system. These two systems are connected by the vagus nerve, which is the tenth cranial nerve that runs from our brain stem down to our abdomen. This brain-gut axis is what connects our two “brains” together and explains why we get an upset stomach when we get nervous, for example. Similarly, stress results in alterations of our brain-gut connection, which can contribute to gastrointestinal disorders. Stress can cause multiple chronic disease processes to occur, including Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Osteoarthritis, Crohn’s Disease and many others including Morgellon’s Disease.

Never eat CAFO (confined animal feeding operation) meats, which are typically pumped full of antibiotics which are toxic to bacteria. That would be all meat from a factory farm. The chemicals in GMOs will wreak havoc on your gut bacteria and is probably why Morgellons is so prevalent now. Try to avoid all processed foods if at all possible. When foods are processed, they are processed with chemicals.

Avoid eating sugar or products containing fructose. They will distort the ratio of good to bad bacteria in your gut and will help develop pathogenic bacteria, yeast and fungi that negatively inhibit the beneficial bacteria in your gut and may exacerbate your symptoms. Eat fermented foods if possible as they are a rich source of probiotics. We will have a list of good fermented foods to eat in an upcoming newsletter. If you can’t eat fermented foods, then take a good high-quality probiotic supplement.

      • I bought some bolony from walmart and the name of it is barS and every since I found something white in it I quit eating it and it was shaped like a fish. I cant explain it but since we started eating it we noticed bugs crawling on us under the skin and those white things on our skin and they attach their selfes like a leech with tentacles and they are hard to remove and it really hurts trying to remove them and when I eat or touch food they come through my skin on my hands and they take the color of the food and doctors think i am crazy and one of them even watched while it was happening. What should i do and how can i clean my house and clothes Nd pets to get rid of this creepy crap?

Posted by angela rudd | July 25, 2012, 8:19 pm
      • Those aren’t bugs in the bologna, as there aren’t any that would do as you described. What probably happened is that you had a reaction to the chemicals in the bologna and the bacteria in your body is moving under the skin and that is why you have a crawling sensation. Additionally it is most likely you have bundles of bacteria coming out through your pores and when you pick at them it feels scab-like. All you can do is to not eat any processed meats from Walmart or a supermarket. They are full of all kinds of chemicals that adversely affect some people. If you have to eat meat, only eat organic meat from a health food store or local rancher in your area if you have one. Never eat meat of any kind from Walmart.

  6. The Bugman is right on. I have a chemical sensitivity and this is exactly what happens. I had tremendous stress and drank approximately ten bottles of water a day that had been in the heat. The more I drank the thirstier I got–didn’t tie it together until it was too late. Now, I can not tolerate any chemicals or any sort. My latest reaction was when I got in a salt treated swimming pool that had been chlorinated unknowing to me.

  7. I have these tiny biting bugs in my home as well. They are very VERY small. In fact, they are smaller than a grain of salt. They are sometimes red, black, and even grey in color. I live in a very old home and my windows and doors are not completely sealed. I did not see the bugs in the fall or winter but now that it is spring I see them quite frequently and feel them biting me all the time. I am looking into how to better seal my windows and doors and hope there is something that I can use to kill them. Please don’t think you are crazy just because your eyes may not be all that good and you cannot see them. Like I said, they are very very small.

Posted by cherie fuino | May 6, 2012, 10:57 pm
    • If you have tiny bugs and you can see them, they are mites. Either bird mites or rodent mites depending on where you live and if you have pigeons on your roof or rodents in your home. If so, the best product to control them is Greenbug for Indoors, made from cedar, and perfectly safe. If you treat your home with Greenbug and the biting persists, then something else is going on, such as IBBS. Greenbug is available online at http://www.greenbugallnatural.com

  8. I was at the beach over a week and a half ago. I as fine for a few days, but now I cannot seem to stop itching everywhere. When I do itch where there is nothing, a bump appears that seems to resemble a bug bite. They itch so bad, that I often cannot stop until they are bleeding. Could I have gotten something from the sand at the beach or the water? (I went up only to my knees). Could I have something inside me biting me? I know that sounds crazy. I also wash my sheets in hot water very often and take baths and soap up. I do not know what else to do. I take Benedryl for the itch at night, but that makes me so tired and after taking that I cannot accomlish anything.

    Posted by Jackie | June 6, 2012, 9:23 pm
    • You don’t say what beach you were at, but if it is the Pacific, it may have something to do with the radiation in the water from Japan if you are sensitive to it. I doubt if it is a bug or anything biting you from inside. I would guess you are have a reaction to a chemical as the chemical is disturbing your normal bacteria, which is causing the itch. It is also possible you are reacting to other chemicals you have been exposed to, possibly pesticides, and it has nothing to do with the beach.

      • I was on the Atlantic side. I went to the dermatologist yesterday and she said I have hives. She said it can be from the sun, but when I researched it, the parts exposed to the sun should have the hives, and that it not the case here. I am baffled at what it could be, but I haven’t slept in three nights because the itching is so bad. She put me on prednisone and I hoping that takes effect soon. I am trying to think of anything I could have eaten or did, but I cannot think of anything new. Thank you for taking the time to e-mail me back. I a guess I will head to the allergist to see what he can do.

I can tell you from experience that if you start scratching it will make those around you itch. Just start talking about head lice and everyone in the room will itch.

      • Where can you do a biopsy? How did you cure it in three months?

        Posted by ava | September 21, 2012, 1:18 am
      • Ava, I am leaving in the morning on a mission trip to Haiti so I will not have time to respond to you. Please post again in about 10 days to remind me and I will write you back. Don’t have your house bombed or use an exterminator unless you verify that you have a parasite. Don’t panic and get rid of everything and don’t spend a 1,000 dollars on stuff that is suppose to kill invisible bugs.First, go the medical route and see a dermatologist. Ask them to look at it under the microscope. Ask them to biopsy it . Even if they can not determine that it is a parasite they may want to try a medication just in case. I would not do that. You will just be adding to a chemical overload. I did that and it make me worse. They should be able to definitively determine if it is a parasite or a fungus etc. Be cautious about who you choose because some derm docs just do botox and skin care. You can also see an entomologist if you want to verify that you do or don’t have an insect and there are county extension services that can look under a microscope for you or if you can get a sample then the bug man will look at it for you. Now, this is what we did. Go off all animal products , (unless you can afford organic) and wash all your fruit with a wash from Walmart for getting pesticides off your produce. Eat raw as much as possible. Lots of salad and spinach, fruit etc. Lot of water. We used distilled. Beans and rice and we did do some wild caught salmon. We did a detox using high doses of enzymes. I got mine from Lucky Vitamin online. Solaray- SOD, Mega- ZYme by Enzymatic therapy and a liver detox tab…don’t recall. I took 8-10 of these tabs 3x a day. I also took a good probiotic. IF IT IS CHEMICAL, and you clean out your system you will begin to get better. , in my opinion. You can drive yourself crazy doing all this external stuff but the internal is just as important. I would be very hesitant about putting lots of stuff on your body like alcohol and other things that will break down your skins integrity. If you do that you are just opening yourself up to more damage. Your skin is the largest organ in your body and is designed to protect you. Also you have to consider that you may be being exposed to chemical from a source that you are not sure about. Many people have severe environmental sensitivities that they are not aware of. I would do research on what detergents you can use, etc. No suncreen, insect repellant, perfume, paint fumes etc. Try this first and give it some time and see if it helps. I truly believe that some folks try so much that this thing morphs into something else because of all the damage done to the tissue. I’m not saying this will work for you but it did for us and we had the black specs that changed into the fibers popping out and feeling like bugs crawling all over. It was not a bug but chemical. It won’t be easy to do this but what do you have to lose? The reason I continue to check this blog is because the explanation bugman gave was plausible and I want to help anyone else who goes through this. Very few people actually come back and let you know what happened. I think that is because it goes away and they move on.

    • Did you use sunscreen?? Many are full of chemicals.

Posted by Debbie Gill | June 12, 2012, 11:11 pm
    • The same thing is happening to me. I want to cry, I don’t know what to do anymore. I take Benedryl at night and nodded at my job and got in trouble. It’s driving me mad. I do have bumps though.

  9. I’ve seen those fiber-like things floating in the air and on my face, when I felt something crawling or itching my face. I t seems to get worse when I am around my friend. It almost seems like they are communicating, so I almost hate to be around my friend because I’m pretty sure she has the same thing. She admitted that she felt crawly, and was itching alot. I hate to stay away from my friend, but she won’t admit the problem. I thought it was some kind of lice or mite, and I’ve seem a few wierd looking things under microscope. Worm like things with a hook. Then I thought it was a hook worm, but I looking up a picture of one and didn’t resemble. I also found little white balls on my skin, I thought could be eggs, but don’t know. Ive seen alot of wormy shaped things. Alot of what you say seems to make sense. I have been getting sick from some of the cereals I have been eat, well most of them except fruity pebbles and cocao pebbles. I noticed they were gluten free…mabe thats why. I havent used any pesticides except pinsol and clorox bleach spray. I use pesticides on my cat and she is itching also. I am going to try and not eat any sugar tonight and see if that helps and try not eats GMO’s. Do you know what I could do beside isolating myself from family and friends?

    Posted by Durene | June 8, 2012, 6:54 am
    • Don’t use any pesticides on your cat as it isn’t good for her or for you. What you are seeing under the microscope may be clusters of bacteria that are leaving your body because of their exposure to some kind of chemical. Find other natural cleansers than PineSol or clorox and keep away from genetically modified foods and don’t eat any meat products from a supermarket or Walmart. Eat only organic meats if you have to eat meats and eat only certified organic vegetables and fruits.

I have a spot on my skin that look like boomerangs or a crescent shapes under the skin clustered in an area. I itch. Iv’e been to dermatologist but that was a waste of money. She is a complete idiot. Ive lost hair and used everything known to man. I even put flea dip in my hair. I have what my dermatologist says is rosaecea. My hair strands move. I feel like medusa some days. I have to wear my hair slicked back unless I want to feel my hairs dancing on my head. My dog has them too. It’s God awful. I don’t know what else to try.

      • Ive also got hair issues, its falling out and moves like its alive. I notices this same thing happening to certain fibers in my home such as strings hanging from clothing. Also my couch pillow had the fiber from inside sticking straight up about 2 in. with a lint ball on top. When I went to touch it it moved away then stuck to my finger. Really freaky stuff. I think collembola bacteria is inside fibers causing this reaction. I have pics and samples of all the strange things I have encountered since I contracted what I believe to be Morgellons Syndrome. Sending happy hair vibes your way! Good Luck!

    Posted by lori | June 9, 2012, 10:05 am
    • I would recommend staying away from all pesticides and other chemicals as they are reacting with normal bacteria in your body causing the bite-like sensation. This can also be caused by chemicals in food so I would avoid any genetically modified foods and any meats from a supermarket or Walmart. Eat only organic foods for awhile and the symptoms should subside.

      Posted by askthebugman | June 9, 2012, 4:27 pm
      • i didnt use any chemicals. i used the heat treatment. i just dont understand. my bites are so itcy they look like bedbugs bites. im so stressed out all i do is think about it 24/7. it has taken over my life. what else could be going on could it be a skin disorder?

        Posted by lori | June 9, 2012, 9:38 pm
  11. As I said, it could be food related or it may be a skin disorder. You may want to have a dermatologist look at it for you.

    Posted by askthebugman | June 10, 2012, 5:44 pm
  12. It can’t be a bug if nobody sees any, including the exterminator. He should have optical equipment necessary to see small things. If something was biting everyone on a piece of furniture like a couch, it could be some kind of biting mite, like a rat mite or bird mite. They won’t infest your car or office. Maybe you have no-see-ums in your area. They are very small flies that can fit through a screen and when they bite, you don’t feel anything for 45 minutes to an hour later, which would explain the “bites” in the car and at your office. They will also bite anyone in the house. You can Google them for more information. They call them biting midges (family Ceratopogonidae). That is the only bug it could be. If that isn’t it, it has to be some kind of chemical reaction but I can’t explain why other people have it unless they react the same way as you to certain chemicals.

    Posted by askthebugman | June 12, 2012, 9:37 pm
  13. You need to get your money back from the exterminator. It is illegal to apply pesticides if there isn’t a target pest. If other people are exposed to the same chemical they can have a similar reaction. The other possibility is that you mention your sensations and they think they have them. If you say lice in a crowded room and start scratching, most everyone else will do the same thing.. While your condition is physical from chemicals, others are having mental reactions. If there is a common chemical in the room, it may affect the dog as well.

  15. Hi, I think these invisible bugs are Demodex mites. These mites are very hard to kill but TTO seems to do the trick. I’ve had this itching problem for 15 years and finally after a lot of searching found the answer and trying to help other people cos I know how this can play with your head.
It’ll take around 3 months to kill all adults and eggs but you’ll see results in the first week.
Don’t give up and try not to get stressed as the mites get worse when your amune system gets weak.

Check out this link and good luck.

    • Demodex or follicle mites are found on almost everyone, especially as you get older. They live in the follicles along your hairline and in your eyebrows. They feed on bodily secretions and don’t bite and are rarely even noticed. However in rare cases they can become overabundant for several reasons and become a pest. Usually this is caused by a person’s immune system being compromised. What causes immune systems to be compromised? A variety of things, including exposure to certain chemicals. While follicle mites may be an incidental cause of IBBS, there are other factors to look out for as discussed on this blog. Killing the mites won’t solve the problem of a compromised immune system. It will only hide a symptom of it.

      Posted by askthebugman | June 17, 2012, 8:41 pm
  16. I feel that sometimes in life we have a dip in our immune system and thats when the mites latch on. Then it becomes a catch 22. The mites increase your stress levels, your immune system gets worse and so on.

The Demodex mite is harming a lot of people and its not being taken seriously. Doctors ignore the symptoms and think that its all in our head. Its not in our head, its real and its hurting people. You are right, don’t use chemicals because it will damage your immune system and it will not kill these mites especially the eggs.
I believe that if you get rid of the mites the immune system will pick up but you have to take care of yourself.

Good luck to you all I know how it feels and its not in your head its real.

    • For over 15 years I’ve felt crawling on my face, scalp & legs, I’ve seen a lot of doctors who tell me its in my head. so I decided to do my own research and thanks to a lot of people putting in there experiences I can honestly say that the invisible bug for me is the Demodex mite. Its 0.02mm long and lives in your hair follicles. this mite feeds during the day time and comes out at night to breed and lay eggs.

Women suffer from this more because of their make up, these mites love it and if you don’t cleanse properly before you go to bed they will be attracted to you. This mite lives on most people but your immune system deals with most of them so the host feels nothing, but if your immune system is weak due to stress or illness then the mites get out of control and thats when the problems start. I can blab on all day but now i want to share what I’ve done in the last 3 weeks and hope it can be of help. research has proven that tee tree oil is the only natural way that kills the mites and that the eggs are immune to all pesticides.
      this is what i did:
      I bought
      1) Tea tree oil shampoo
      2) Tea tree oil soap
      3) 100% Tea tree oil essential oil. (has to be 100%)
      4) Carrier oil (i used Olive oil)

And that is all you need. do NOT spray chemicals as this weakens your immune system and does not kill the eggs of this mite, so there is no point.
save your cash, just hoover at least once a week and dust with a wet cloth as much as you can. this mite can’t live without a host for more than 3 days.

I started by making sure i wasn’t allergic to TTO (tea tree oil) by putting a small amount on my hand and waiting 10 mins to see if there is any reaction.
I then mixed 50% TTO and 50% Olive oil and rubbed it all over my body.I did that for 3 weeks but only ONCE a week. Left it on for 25mins. Made sure not to get it in my eyes or swallow any.
After 25mins I washed it off with the TTO shampoo and soap.
That will kill most of the adults but the eggs will still there.
I keep washing with the shampoo and soap in the morning and before bed for a week, then just in the morning for 2 weeks, but made sure I washed my face with the soap every morning and night.
I threw away my pillow and washed all my bedding and towels in the machineI put 10 drops of 100% TTO in the rinse cycle.
Changed Pillow cover every 2 days and linen twice a week.

I still felt the odd bite here and there but that is the eggs hatching. I am going to carry on with the shampoo and soap for a total of 3 months to make sure all eggs are gone and then just maintain with tea tree oil products just once a week.
I’ll update you once the 3 months are done or any changes before.

Tea tree oil really worked for me but if you try this please be careful not to get it in your eyes. if you do rinse with warm water and DO NOT DRINK THIS STUFF it will mess you up.

If you do try this method please reply to this and let us know how you did or if you did something different.

  17. Bugman, please don’t discredit this woman’s situation as being in her head or caused by some chemical. This is real. My children and I have suffered from this for two years. My child with eczema seems to suffer more. they leave welts, they itch like crazy, and they sometimes hurt as they’re biting you. I’ve tried everthing and prayer. Today I’ve received my all natural, cedar wood oil based spray. Hopefully this ends our problem and helps you as well.

  18. I just recently had a Robin build her nest on our porch. Once the babies left the nest- I could see what looked like a pile of dirt blow away from the nest. After I started to clean the “dirt” I noticed that the tiny grains were moving in opposing directions- and I realized they were mites.

I had my husband remove the nest- by putting it in a bag and knotting it shut. He threw it in the garbage can on Saturday, and on Sunday when he took out the cans he said that the brown “dirt” was all over the handles of the can.

On Monday I brought in the cans and many of them were still on the handle.

On Tuesday I brought in packages that were on the porch and after I opened the boxes and had several of the items out on my coffee table for about an hour- I noticed 1 little (now white) flake on one of the purses- and it was moving. (freak out) So I sprayed the purse with Lysol and the mite stopped moving. Then I threw all of the items in the freezer for 5 hours. After inspecting the items, I couldn’t find anymore mites.

After a day I realized the boxes were still in the house. (2nd freak out) So I grabbed them and threw them far out in the yard.

Then I saw another white bug near where the boxes were in my house. I sprayed mite spray- and it stopped moving. Then I threw everything in that general area in the freezer.

I have 3 dogs and I haven’t seen any mites on them. And, I don’t think many of them ended up making it in the house.

With that being said- ever since I saw that tiny mite- I have felt creepy all over my body. And, I am confident that it is in my mind. So, I sympathize with the other contributors.

If these bird mites were able to feed on humans I think I’d have a much larger problem.

I think the people that are complaining of bugs on their skin have another type of bug or mite/lice in there house.

Because the typical bird mite needs access to bird blood to survive longer than 6 weeks and they absolutely need it to breed. The babies that hatch also need bird blood. So, you are looking at 9-12 weeks of live bugs max- unless the mites have access to live birds, mice, or their carcuses. It’s science people.

I’m not saying you don’t have bugs – you probably do- it’s just that they are probably lice, fleas or bed bugs.

In that case you need to powder and bag all furniture and mattresses, freeze all clothing and treat all living things (that could feed the bugs) in the house for lice.

If you are in an apartment you need to assume that your neighbors could be feeding the bugs- either with themselves or live or dead animals.

In that case I’d call the health dept and make a complaint. Or ask to be moved to a new unit.

Thousands of households have lice and flea infestations every year and the vast majority successfully eliminate the critters.

You are not special in the bugs eyes or in nature.

But, if you are hosing yourselves with poison and caustic chemicals on a daily basis then you may convince yourself that you are different.

You may also want to have your home tested for mold. It can cause paranoia.

I hope this helpful and not offensive to anyone.

    Best of luck!

    • If there are really bugs there you can get rid of them by fogging the room with Greenbug for Indoors (www.greenbugallnatural.com), or by calling a competent professional pest manager. Any pest can be controlled once it is identified.

  20. Dear Bugman. Just want you to know that your being there has meant so much to me. I have read almost everything on your websites. I have no pet (although my friend who has a dog at her own home came to watch movies with me on a regular basis and I believe she was a carrier). Cleaned everything. Tried everything. Repeated everything. Decided I would ask the exterminator to stop coming because he said he couldn’t identify any bug I had given him on scotch tape, and I am sure you are right about not using all the poisonous sprays which compromise your immune system. I have markings of bites but am old (85) and have many “age spots”, too, so it is difficult to tell what were bites and what were not. I have not wanted to spend anymore money for any service or product and especially have avoided going to dermatologists almost all who say it is all in your head. I spray alcohol on bites when I first feel them and that stops any itching. Have had to not mention this happening to anyone but the very closest of family as I have become a hermit and lost friends. Finally the taking Benedryl or an allergy pill seems to be starting to work for me (just a few days consumption by me so far). I take vitamin supplements and a blood pressure pill but no other medicines. It seems ridiculous that the antihistimine could be what works as I’ve been positive that the infestation was fleas. Maybe it still is fleas. After reading all the comments in the testimonies and it seemed the only things that worked for those infested were those few that said they had taken Benedryl or an Antihistimine for allergies. Haven’t tried “Greenbug” which you mentioned but think I will buy it and have it on hand for my routine cleaning etc. It’s been a very depressing experience but I still have hope that it is coming to an end. Thanks, Bugman, for all the help. From DrivenToDistraction.

    • Don’t get discouraged. My daughter was exposed to chemicals but just like many others thought she had an infestation of some type of small mite or insect. She had fibers coming out of her body and felt something biting her constantly. After much medical treatment, we were fortunate to find this blog. We cleaned up her environment and put her on a strict diet. She basically went off all meat and dairy because she could not afford organic food. We wash all fruit and vegetable with a anti pesticide wash from Walmart. After three months all her symptoms left. We also did lots of digestive enzymes in addition to a good powdered flora for the stomach. (acidophilous/bifidus) All these things will boost your immune system and help you overcome the toxicity.

  23. Demodex mites are serious problems for some of us. It is hard to get through the evenings without feeling them crawl or bite (yes, they do bite & leave small red dots) Tea Tree Oil in a 50/50 mixture with mineral oil or olive oil is absolutely great. Diatomatious Earth powder (only food grade) sprinkled on your body where you feel them will kill them too = this is a natural pesticide and can be sprinkled anywhere. DE scratches the bugs outer layer and ultimately they dry out. Salt Soap (hand poured, NOT milled) is great to wash your face and use in the shower, as well as any MSM lotion and Sulfur Soap or lotion. God bless us for struggling through this. It is a costly avenue, both financially and mentally. I have encouraged my family to at least use salt soap in their showers and tea tree shampoo, but it is difficult to ask them to do more, especially if they don’t feel anything….yet. I pray they never go through this.

    • There are two kinds of mites. Sucking mites (Anoplura) which can only feed on bodily fluids, and biting lice (Mallophaga) which can bite. Demodex mites are sucking lice and are not capable of biting humans as they don’t have the kind of mouthparts needed for biting. Occasionally when someone has a suppressed immune system, Demodex mites can cause demodicosis, which produces itching and inflammation. You can also get inflammation of the eyelids from Demodex mites as they are usually most common in the eyebrows.

      • Hello,

My boyfriend and I have all these bumps all over us. We get them at night and they are in our privates, on our stomachs and legs. Everywhere. The bites are skin colored bumps at first that turn red and are fairly small. They do not hurt but they itch like crazy. They have a small pin hole in the middle of them. We have looked all over our bed for signs of bed bugs but there aren’t any. It started about two months ago. We constantly wash our bedding and spray once a week but it doesn’t help, maybe for a day, but that could be in our heads. The weirdest thing is that we go out of town often and during our leaves we get no bites. When we get home, however, it is just as bad again immediately. We can’t see any bugs and it is just weird.

One theory we have is that our bed is in the basement and there is a ground level window right above it that has grass growing right beside it. We think maybe chiggers are getting in on our bed, because we often open the window for fresh air. We also have a black lab but we never see fleas, other than a few here and there. I’ve seen a flea infestation before and it was different than this.

Please, any help anyone can give will be amazing.

        Posted by Autumn | July 18, 2012, 3:06 pm
      • I doubt if it is chiggers. Rat mites or bird mites are more likely. Do you have pigeons or any other birds roosting on your home or have you had a problem with rodents? I would get a professional to totally inspect the area and try to determine what the problem is.

  24. Every night for the past 2 weeks I have felt like bugs are crawling all over my skin (inc. private area). I have bites on my chest, abdomen, shoulders, bicept/tricept areas and back. The bites itch and the crawling feeling is starting to keep me up at night. Last night I pulled a red thing off my skin (a little smaller than a grain of rice) thinking it was a piece of skin. I turned on my lights to see what it was and I decided to flick it off my bed. I didn’t go that far and I noticed it left a red stain behind. Intrigued I picked it up and rolled it on my sheets and it left a red stain trail from where I rolled it. (photos: http://www.freeimagehosting.net/oupbd . also http://www.freeimagehosting.net/ljj6v )

I went to the doctor this morning because the red thing just put me over the edge and I was diagnosed with bed bugs (because of the red thing I found). The doctor told me that bed bugs can leave a red stain trail but I feel like my bites don’t have the same characteristics of bedbugs. For example from what I read online bed bugs bite the legs, have big welds and you can’t feel them on you. I feel crawling, have no bite marks on my legs and the ones on my shoulder aren’t huge welds.
( photo of bites on my shoulder http://www.freeimagehosting.net/cu4hg )

Also I looked between the seams of my mattress and between my mattress and the box spring only to find no bed bugs. After reading through other peoples posts I got intrigued with the rat mites. Last year we had a rat infestation and killed them with the rat poison pellets although I didn’t have the biting feeling then and I am the only one who has it now.

Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

    Posted by Justin | July 17, 2012, 9:54 am
    • Could be rat mites. Doesn’t sound like bed bugs. I would get a professional to inspect your house and bed to see if they can find any mites and treat accordingly. Mites are small, but they aren’t invisible, so a good inspector should be able to determine if this is what you have. Also, read this entire blog and make sure you aren’t suffering from some kind of chemical exposure.

Did reconize one of the samples as a egg/lavre. Being in the area I work could have been a factor on how these were obtainted he said, a envorimental issue. Also seen a friend who is a doctor of 33 years, Dr. Neil Pagent, said these things he has only seen happen in foreign countrys, travelers of and a few foreign patients. Had to fill out papers on this visit and give samples of…this could go higher he said if it is what he thinks. Bad is now it seems to be with several of my friends and coworker, I have a appoint friday to stay off work and stop my spread of these.

  27. I had 2 exterminators come out who brought no optical equipment. 2 others on the phone offered no optical equipment. Bacteria and viruses kill people everyday, but you cannot see them without a powerful microscope.
Think about buying a USB microscope on one of the shopping sites. $ 60. Nobody is going to solve this problem for you!! You have to take charge and do the research to get a picture of the bug, or samples of the dead bodies. And, we all have to share techniques to help each other when we have some success. Keep working on it. & Good Luck.

    Posted by NW | August 10, 2012, 12:50 am
    • The problem is that you have to microscope slides, covers and medium to properly mount whatever you find if you want it examined by a professional. Any mites or insects can be seen with a good hand lens. If you have something so small it needs a microscope, it isn’t a bug or mite, it is a bacteria or similar single-celled animal.

  29. Every year for the past 5-6 years, in mid-August (literally August 15th for the past two years), I start getting bites. My doctor said they were mosquito bites, but I get those, and these are not mosquito bites. They start out small, with a central “point” you can feel with your finger. If I scratch them (try not to) or my clothing rubs against them, they get puffed up and red like a mosquito bite. Over a 1-2 week period they continue to itch, but the bump flattens out and the red patch gets darker and larger, sometimes almost 2 inches across. Then the patch and the itching fades away. Each year I go through two “bouts” of these bites, one in August, one in September.

These bites itch so much I have trouble concentrating on anything. I feel like cutting off my skin. Or just driving my truck into a brick wall. I get them at night, during the day, at home, in my car, at work. My wife sleeps next to me and doesn’t get them at all; neither do our two kids. Our two cats are indoor cats, and show no signs of any infestation or skin condition. I am, however, one of those people who always seems to get bitten when nobody else is. My wife jokes that she brings me to outdoor events to keep the bugs away from her.

The bites always show up in the area from mid-thigh to lower back. Never any on my genitals. I woke up Aug 15 with 2 of them. By yesterday morning I had about 7 or 8. I’ll probably have more by the time I get undressed tonight. I’ve tried various anti-itch creams, both corticosteroid-based and calamine/pramoxine-based. The creams seem to help for a little while, for maybe 10-30 minutes the itching is dulled and I can deal with it. But then it comes back. Sometimes I do experience a “crawling” sensation as has been described in some of the other comments.

I never had anything like this before 5-6 years ago. My brother-in-law who does a lot of swimming in fresh water said he gets them too, in the late summer when the water warms up and some kind of algae or parasite multiplies. But I haven’t been in fresh water at all this year. I’ve gone in the ocean twice and in a swimming pool twice.

My diet hasn’t changed much since before I started getting whatever these are. I’m trying to eat less processed foods, and less food in general (to lose weight). That being said, I have no idea what might have changed in the foods I eat without my knowledge (new pesticides, new antibacterials, etc.)

The only thing I can think of which has ever bothered me this much is a period of time earlier in my life when I had “itchy anus”, which drove me nuts for quite a while. That eventually went away.

I’m going to try TTO; it was also recommended by someone I work with. I’ll let you know how it goes.

      • Wow, i thought my dog had fleas and he gave it to me because he sleeps next to me.

I am relieved that there is so much feedback on this website, after only sleeping a total of 45 minutes last night because of the non-stop biting and itching on my scalp, and entire body. I have been dealing with this problem for a few months and from doing everything the wrong way i suffered my first attack last night, of course that was also after sparying Cutter Advanced bug spray all over me, like six times a day, since Friday night.

I kept taking these red and black dots off of me as i felt each painful sting, what looked liked larve, their was white specs, some type of cotton fibers falling from my hair and stinging me as it landed on my body. it has not goitten to my vaginal area yet, and i dont want it to. Does this sound like IBBS? If so, my dog definitely has it too and could anyone provide tips on what to do for him?

      • It definitely sounds like IBBS. Try to follow the recommendations on these posts about diet, drinking lots of water, and not exposing yourself or your dog to any chemicals, including pesticides. It may take a while for the symptoms to subside, but I am confident they will.

    • I am not sure if you still have this condistions or if you’ll even read this reply ,I’ve said this in two other replys and it’s worth a shot for you to try , there are herbs you can take that may very well kill and clean your whole body out of any parasetic conditions , also try taking a bath with a tea tree oil , it helps with the itching and will kill anything under the skin , hopefully it will for you , look up herbal cures , not all doctor or over the counter prescriptions will cure a person they weren’t meant to .

That’s why most things have a pill that will treat a condition but won’t fully cure you and the side effects are to many , herbs will be my only answer to anything posted on this site , unless it comes to killing household bugs

    • After paying several $40 co-pays to my PCP and a dermatologist, my biopsy result: “insect bite reaction”. Thank you very much. Any chance they can tell me what type of insect? No. Any ideas why this only happens during a very specific part of the year? No. Anything other than the $15 prescription steroid jelly (which does nothing) that I can put on them? No.

Another person I work with has similar bites on her stomach. She thinks they’re spider bites.

One day a couple of weeks ago I was sitting on the toilet, and something ran out of my shorts and down my leg. I think it was a centipede. There are spiders and centipedes in my office at work. Could I have baby centipedes in my clothing or something? I got bit on my arse again, while driving in my car, so it had to be something that was already in my pants. As noted, sometimes I feel like things are crawling on me. This is driving me fucking nuts.

      • Weird thing: After the biopsy done by the dermatologist, I had a couple of stiches on my abdomen. When I got home I put some neosporin on the area and covered it with a bandage. Within a day, all around the edges of the bandage, there were a bunch of “bites”. As if whatever wanted to get out from under the bandage and away from the neosporin.

    • I’m all set.. until next August. A mixture of TJ’s Vit E Oil and TTO faded the bites and itching quickly. Physicians and dermatologists were useless IMHO. I had an interesting conversation with another IBBS sufferer a few days ago, and when she learned that I lived next to a farm, she asked “Do they spray?” They do. And the orchard is one house away from me. I’m going to find out what they spray, and if whatever it is was changed about 5-6 years ago when this condition started.

I came across a list of natrual herbal cures for things including cancer , because I’ve never had cancer I can’t garentee it’ll work but it’s worth a shot , I hope you get better and you win the fight with cancer , I’ll keep you in my prayers .

  31. I’ve had the so-called Morgellons condition for over 10 years, but didn’t recognize it as that until after it was named and people were posting online. In the earl years, I asked several doctors to check me (for some kind of bug), to no avail. Then, when I realized that my symptoms matched those of other people (and the sores and entities looked similar), I began to use magnification and saw the red, blue and black strings and larva-like things. When they were really dramatic, I’d save specimens. Again, over the years, I was rejected by doctors who all gave me an identical line: “I can’t help you.” Shocking to hear from doctors, who, you’d think, would at least be curious. Then recently, one dermatologist saw the entities herself, right on my body and on the tissue that she used to rub an area. She agreed to send some specimens to her colleague to be analyzed. I provided very good material, all labeled for what kind of entity (of the several that appear) and from what part of my body. Some time later, the result was in: “Nothing except normal body material.” The doctor I’d given it to knew that this was false, but didn’t say much. After all, the CDC has issued a statement that the condition called Morgellons doesn’t exist. I’d like to point out something important to anyone with skin itching, etc. This particular condition is internal; it’s not really a surface skin problem per se. It manifests on the skin when the entities are close to the surface, causing the itching. But “they” are inside ears, nostrils, throat, (I’ve removed and seen the entities from these areas) and who knows where else in the body. The condition frustrates the victims terribly especially because of the medical rejections. I’m used to it now and just doing my best for my body. I think that Richard has done his best in his explanation. I wonder when the truth will be revealed.

  32. I know all about chemicals, i was exposed to them and had to eradicate all chemicals and processed/take-out foods from my home to survive an exposure that killed many of my coworkers and still afflicts me. That said I’ve never had a bug infestation with the exception of ants that were looking for water and dealt with those using Orange spray. However, recently I found a cluster of 3 pattern on my ankle and two months and about a hundred horribly itchy bites later, I’ve completely changed my eating patterns, cancelled and rescheduled multiple doctors appointments due to embarrassment (none of them with specialists who would know what this is) and my sleep schedule to stay awake as much as possible, I keep my lights on 24/7.. I think my modifications have made them hungry because now they’re hanging out where I can see them at times.

I have FINALLY started to find what LOOKS like ants. Very small ones. They are long, soft-bodied and seem like newborn ants ‘to the eye’ (i expected round bodied spider looking bed bugs or the like so this is a surprise). I flush them away with water down the sink immediately so it can’t bite my fingers when I grab them, but this isn’t helping me figure out what it is. I have placed tape nearby now to grab and ‘stick’ on whatever it is so I can have a much better look and maybe even get a picture.

This is very disturbing. They DO seem to be drawn to paper as I had some fresh printed materials and some newspaper recycle area and found a few in there. I don’t know if it was the lack of disturbance that they liked or something about the paper/printed material that they liked. But – getting rid of something that enjoys paper in a place full of paper is daunting. I have a small flat, which by sheer nature of the love of learning and storage of large medical records etc is now a very big concern. Even moving would just bring them along assuredly so what can I, someone who is KNOWINGLY chemically sensitive, do?

Anything with Alpha Pinene is out. I’ve all but resolved myself to spraying with DE (since breathing it is toxic) and leaving for a few weeks (which is very difficult to do for several reasons), come back and vacuum and hope for the best, but I’m not even sure if FG DE is the answer to this sort of creature or not. Will the silica that ‘cuts up’ a bug with an exo skeleton also kill soft bugs?

Bites: I do get them in the folds and creases of the knees and arms (while bent) and within the bra area but as I’ve modified behavior and kept things straight etc they don’t seem to care much, as I’ve gotten bites on my visible chest, my legs and my back now. The reaction I have is as if a mosquito had bitten me (I’m allergic) but it doesn’t fly and I have no standing water nearby inside or out (i have but the one window to the outdoors and keep it closed a good half the time as CA is HOT) – even if I did it would be more obvious. If someone told me it wasn’t a real bug I’d say ‘then what have I been killing/flushing down the sink and why only in the last two months and why the little soft bugs crawling on me?’

Can whatever it is spread disease? I’m so not in a good place to handle any kind of exposure to anything else.

    • If you can see them, catch a couple on a piece of tape, put the tape in a vial of alcohol and get them identified. Then it would be easier to recommend a treatment. DE will kill any insect, even soft-bodied ones. Greenbug for People made from cedar is also excellent, but it would be much better if the culprit can be positively identified. You can send me some samples if you like packed as I said. My mailing address is 6804 4th St. NW, no. 134, Los Ranchos, NM 87107.

  33. Well I hope you get this , my boyfriend and I have been suffering from the same thing as others have described , I don’t want to tell you that it’s not in the head these people do have a parasite , soak in tea tree oil two tablespoons in the bathtub , these parasites are hard to see because they hide under coat of wax residue they create .

It leaves a crystal yellowish orange layer on the whole top layer of skin causing the pores to close up so it’s hard to get a chemical into the skin to kill them , However tea tree oil forces them to come out of the body , but it won’t get the eggs out nor will it kill them so treatment is important everyday , castol oil and garlic cloves if digested also will help kill them from the inside out .

There are other oils and herbs you can take that’ll also help , we have tried everything it seems like from safe gaurd dog dewormer which they built up an immunity to it after the second treatment , then we tried a dandruff shampoo with antifungal with a medicine , it worked for a few days also but then it didn’t anymore .

We tried nix and rid they worked to get a few days as well , the stuff prescribed for scabies mites , nothing happen . The doctors wouldn’t do any test went to 4 of them .

After 3 months of having this and doing research I still don’t know what it could be but it’s deffinetly a worm parasite , it looks like white worm , I’ve been using tea tree oil for two days now and it’s still working , so has garlic and castol oil , look up herbs and treatments to kill parasites , there are a list of products that are all natrual which will kill this thing , however I don’t know how to rid them from everything in the home.

These things get on and into everything , I just hope this will help some of you to find relief because it’s nerve racking not knowing what’s going on.

It is not all in your head , my mom told me it was, I know better cause I seen them coming out of everywhere on my skin and once I take a picture of the bath water tonight she better not say its dead skin falling off of me because I seen them floating out of my vagina as well and my skin would bubble like there was air in it so I pushed on my legs and feet out came more worms .

It’s the best creepiest feeling of all when you see progress and 100s coming out , even after the second treatment I don’t feel the crawling as much .

    • Lynsey you describe exactly the same observations i have made. get yourself a microscope or just use your webcam. take the lens out of your webccam turn it around and tape or glue it back on backwards, it will provide appx 60-100x magnification. what i have found a little different is that the white worms are usually next to a dark colored one, i see them in the little black specks that come out of my skin. salt and vinegar with lugols iodine seems to work well at getting them out of the skin as well.

  34. Hi, I had this itchy crawly feeling over my whole body for over 2 years. It started off on my head so i thought it was lice but I couldn’t find any eggs or anything for that matter. It then progressed to behind my ears the most and on my shoulder blades. Then to my palms, feet, and now it’s everywhere. The more I tried to cure this bug off of my body the angrier it gets and the bugs start to crawl faster and bite more. I can feel it moving in my hair when I touch it or grab it, and in certain lights I can see very small white bugs flying/crawling around smaller than a grain of salt to long ones as big as a rice grain (gross I know). Especially in the sun I can see it flying and crawling all over.

I’ve stopped harming my body with products and just let it live because it doesn’t crawl over my body that much and more my head/hair. Now it’s non-stop itchiness every day 24/7. Every time I’m around another person, they start to itch. People have told me that every time they hang out with me they feel like somethings crawling on their head and body. When I comb out my hair or scratch my arm to a dim light I can see all of the bugs fly out and then come back to me. I have a video recording of it, its just so much to handle on my own. Has anyone ever figured out what it was?! I also noticed that whenever I’m around birds they start to scratch themselves, literally, all of them in a row start to dig their beaks into theier body. If it’s not bird’s mites then I don’t know what it is. Please help me.

    • Hi Julie,

I have what you have. I have seen these microscopic flying bugs in strong sunlight or a strong flashlight. They are like you describe as big as a speck of salt, or like a piece of floating dust. Not everyone on this site has the same bug. But, you describe exactly what I have seen too. Can you post the video on youtube? I could show that to my local extension entomologist. Mine are not as bad as yours. But, contrary to the Bugmans philosophy, I have been spraying a lot of pesticide. I still have lingering bugs, but not that many. I can feel them lighting on me now. Here is what I am doing to reduce the infestation. I bought tea tree shampoo and conditioner at Whole Foods. They seem to hate tea tree oil & peppermint oils. I bought the dyson animal vacuum from Amazon. What a great vacuum. Comes with a 6 inch upholstery attachment too. Vacuum every day if possible, I do every couple of days. I change my sheets almost every night. I keep all my dirty clothes in sealed bins. You can only wear your clothes once. I put 20 mule team detergent in the laundry. I also bought a couple of $ 15 garden sprayers. I spray Talstar mixed with Nylar. Spray the whole house. Make sure you have picked up everything off the floors that is possible. The Nylar inhibits their egg reproduction. Eggs are hatching everyday! I sprayed 3 times 5 days apart. They are about 90% gone but still lingering a little. I also spray sterifab on spot areas. This is good for mattresses and things like that. It kills the ones alive, but not the eggs. I will spray sterifab tonight around the PC Buy more Talstar & Nylar than you expect to use. You will also need a respirator with pesticide cartridges in it. Please post your video on youtube, and leave the link here. The video can prove that they exist. People that don’t have these buggers in their home and car have no clue what they are talking about. They have to experience the epidemic to really understand that some foreign pest has invaded their life. Also check out this blog: http://bitingbugs.wordpress.com, Not everyone has the same bugs on these blogs. some people are dealing with fairly benign bugs like: bedbugs, thrips etc. It has to fly to be our bug! These things are literally 1/60- 1/80 of an inch in size. Have you seen little tiny white cocoon’s in your clothing?? I wonder if they are parasitic wasps which are used extensively in this country on agriculture crops to control larger bugs. These miniature wasps are the right size and they are exposed to lots of pesticides, which helps make them pesticide resistant. If you are a farmer, you can buy 10,000 parasitic wasps on a piece of cardboard the size of a pack of cigarettes!! By the way pyrethrin pesticides don’t work at all. Pls share any success you have.

      Posted by Infested | September 8, 2012, 9:10 pm
      • They aren’t parasitic wasps. Parasitic wasps are only capable of feeding on insects they normally parasitize. They don’t have the physical characterisitics necessary (mouthparts) to parasitize humans. They are not a problem. Using chemicals like talstar will only make things worse as the chemicals will affect your immune system and make you more susceptible to “bug activity”.

        Posted by askthebugman | September 9, 2012, 8:31 pm
      • Thank you so much for your help. It’s going to be hard for me to reduce the infestation due to the fact that I live with 4 other guys who don’t believe that I have anything. They don’t clean up after themselves and we have carpet everywhere so it’s hard to clean after myself constantly and others.

Am I exposing others to this as well? They seem to get itchy, but they say it’s just normal to scratch themselves from time to time. I have school and work, so it’s a pain to deal with all this stress. I don’t have the time or the money either. Has your entomologist suggested an easier way to get rid of these bugs? Or do they still not believe you? I’ve spent so much time and money going to specialists that I gave up 6 months ago and let these bugs multiply by the day. It’s so depressing and annoying to live with these bugs everyday… anyway my video is on my other computer, I will post it up when I have time to.

      • Have you ever seriously applied the information that the Bugman has provided and tried it?? We went the chemical route and the constant cleaning of the house and car and we were worse not better. His explanation is the only plausible one. We spent lots of money with the medical community etc.etc. Everyone in our family is fine. My daughter still has a slight problem but essentially it is gone. Now I am not saying that I don’t believe you I am just saying that in our case it was chemical exposure and we got over it. We had all the specs and little white things popping out of our skin every where and constant itching. Praying for your recovery!!

    • could be a type of mite or lice. They can be visible or so tiny as to be almost invisible, they can infest any area of the body that has hair (birds often get them too). They’re easily passed between people (for example, sharing furniture, a hat, a brush, etc.) They are often itchy, and may become especially active and itchy at particular times of day, especially at night. If it were me, I would start by using lice killing shampoo (which you can find in any drug store, the active ingredient is pyrethrin). Read all warnings and use as directed. Check with your doctor if you have any questions.
Pets get mites, too. With pets, it’s a very simple treatment, just a few drops are put on the skin by the vet and it eradicates them, but you can only get the treatment at the vet. It’s a different medicine than the ones used to treat fleas. It’s terrible when people let pets suffer with mites because the itching is really stressful for the animal and it’s an easily treated condition.
Clear out and clean out your living environment, vaccuum everywhere regularly (including furniture/mattresses), wash everything you can wash, wipe down everything else. Bag things like stuffed animals etc in plastic bags for a while to kill any insects that might be on them. Of course never spray pesticides on yourself or near food or drinks, avoid the use of pesticides as much as possible in general and avoid handling them. They can be toxic/poisonous in many ways, they are carcinogenic and can cause liver damage and other organ damage if they reach toxic levels by being absorbed thru skin or breathed in. If you have to have your house exterminated have it done by a professional. Sometimes people using drugs or some medications or withdrawing from/recovering from the use of drugs or alcohol can have false symptoms that mimic bugs crawling on the skin which may last for some time. Sometimes people have reactions to medications that can cause hallucinations that feel like bugs crawling or look like bugs, or if a medication is too high a dose.
Good luck! Don’t let this condition drive you crazy, go to a doctor and get it checked out if you can’t get rid of them. Hope you get rid of them soon :)

  35. Know what you are all going through. Only thing Ive found to eradicate this is to wash, wash wash , any fabrics that are not washed in awhile. ive change to non toxic laundry detergent, found i like it better. it comes back every once in awhile, but when weve been dealing with old cardboard boxes or pick up an old bag of old clothes or pick up old papers, we had maybe put in the back closet or something. I feel them immediately and they go right to work. its good to be in company, but im also sad no one can find what it is. treat animal with biting lice protection, and do the above is the best I can do.

  37. One month later from my earlier post, Aug 3th joe
Had most of the issues many have posted about, after several visits to different Doctors, same result as all..nothing. But, Many thanks to my family for finding a Doctor that could help. Ginger Savely of Washington DC. Long story short I’m finally see good results after 3 weeks, still have the crawling, and a few of the other issues but very limited.. (biting has been rare the last 4 days) . Most of her plans for a recover are just as the Bugman had stated in several of his post. Her main thing is rest (get off work if you can), build immune system back up, eat as the Bugman has stated, organic everything, No sugars, only Whole grain breads and limited, along with some strong antibotic’s..and the list can go on, but take to heart what the Bugman is saying on every post…only thing I can add is, I take 2 Hot Baths a day, plain water….nothing added, scrub good, limited amount of cloths I wash daily and I have removed myself from the envoriment where I once lived.
I started my second antibothic today will keep all posted in a month.
Prays for those who live this nightmare..Joe

    • My daughter had this problem and it was severe. We finally found this site and she eliminated all chemicals from her environment( as much as possible). She changed her diet completely. She is mostly a vegetarian now. She is about 95% cured after 4 months. Hang in there. I keep reading this just hoping we can help encourage others who are so desperate for answers to their suffering.

      • Debbie, I’m very happy for you and your daugther, It’s good to hear there is hope for all of us.
I’m over one month into my antibotics, Improvement has slowed but I’m stable with minor issues. Crawing is very little, still have a few small sores from the bacteria, the biting sensations have become rare. All my blood work has come back, with some good, some bad, the bad is I have Lymes disease, which Mrs.Savely feels this is related to my condition. She has added another antibotic, Dioxycyclen.

One must be 100% true to yourself and stick with the rules as bugman has posted on what it takes to recover. I slipped back to Dinning out, while having a weekend away, and with in 48 hours I seen my condition changing for the worse. Life is very close to normal for me, but I have to watch everything I do to maintain……Thanks for checking Debbie, and I will post once a month on my conditions…..75% healed….God bless…….. Joe

        Posted by Joe | September 30, 2012, 1:22 am
      • So glad to hear that you are healing. You found the right physician if they diagnosed you properly. Lymes disease is often over looked because patients have had it so long that it is not recognized. Doxycycline works for all kinds of weird things. I just got back from Haiti and we used it to treat lots of stuff. I agree that eating out is a big problem. I can tolerate eating out some but my daughter can not. I’m sure your immune system is compromised because of your Lymes disease diagnosis. Please do keep us informed. I think it is very important to encourage others who are looking for answers. Thanks, Debbie

    • I suspect its not a bug, but a chemical reaction to something, either you have been exposed to such as pesticides, or something you ate. Read the entire blogs on this subject and maybe adjust your diet and see if that doesn’t work.

  39. I saw what looked like a pore in the skin of my arm. It was irritating me and I focused on the place where it seemed to be. Then the pore started moving around like a bug. Then I knew that it was a bug. Just so small that it could hardly be seen. when I went to grab it the speck quit moving. Then I wasn’t sure where it was anymore.

  40. i cant see these bugs that are eating me , I think I may be allergic to them because it takes at least 3 days for the pain and inflation of the skin to go down enough to see one or 2 bites in the center. I don’t feel like they are crawling on me but i have really searched EVERYWHERE around my bed , IN my bed for them . I spread boiling water all over my floors and vacuumed and cleaned my room but non of that even slowed the biting at night.
they bite me around 6 times a night which is alot because of my reaction to it.
I think I’m going to try tee tree oil , and bounce sheets I just wish i knew what it was..

  41. Hi, I have dogs and saw fleas on them. sprayed them with adams flea and tick spray, so I haven’t seen anymore fleas. fogged the house three weeks straight. Found a bedbug, although it looks more like an earwig between the mattress. fogged under beds with Hot shot foggers. Sprayed with Hot Shot flee and bedbug spray every day. Sprayed house, under sofa, under bed, . Been putting DE on sheets around the walls, on the pups and I’m at work right now and I feel bites as I type. There are pimples all over my body, back, arms, legs, thighs, between my toes, on fingers, neck and between my buttocks but haven’t seen anything since the one bedbug. Purchased bedbug encasements for mattressess and pillows. Nothing is working, I want to cry, I’ve used lavender oil and DE food grade. My husband sometimes feel the bites when he comes in the room. I even eat the DE food grade occasionally. HELP ME!

    • Best thing you can do is get a new spray bottle and fill it with 90/91% rubbing alcohol, and spray those pimples consistently and everywhere you have a rash. Do this as often as you need to day or night. The best way to detect all of those infected areas is to take a shower or bath and rub your face and entire body with an exfoliating glove, preferably with a special soap, called Miracle II Soap. Use a mirror and check your entire back side and spray the alcohol everywhere you see any red areas or pimples. You need to be sure you get each and every new pimple as soon as it develops. Also, use scented dryer sheets and place them anywhere on the body where it itches. You will get instant relief. Use them day and night, and if needed, place them on your mattress. Wrap your arms with dryer sheets and place anywhere you have any sensations. Throw away your regular mattress, and sleep on an air mattress. You can find a metal bed frame at Walmart.com and also do away with the box spring. Just set the air mattress right on top and you are good to go. Wash everything you wear every single day, including your sheets, and pillow cases with regular laundry soap. You can also soak in the tub using the same Miracle II Soap, and drink about 2 TBS of the Miracle II Liquid Neutralizer in a half cup of water, first thing in the morning. You can reach Kathy at 412-558-0438 to purchase these items. She offers the best prices on all of these products.

  42. I sounds like you have had a very sad life. Much of your life history would suggest that your body is very toxic. I am sure that you do feel Invisible bugs because everyone who posts on here has or has a family member that has. All I can suggest is that you read everything the bug man has written. If you can’t afford organic food, which most of us can’t, then just don’t eat any animal products and see if that helps. Avoid any kind of pesticide or chemical. Don’t go off any of your medication without a physicians help. Scabies did not go deeper into your skin. It cleared itself up. What ever you had in 2001 should not be affecting you now. The little black dots are actually clumps of bacteria that are coming out of your body in response to toxicity. Since you say that you are a Christian, I would also suggest that you watch Joyce Meyer on TV. Her program is called Enjoying Every Day Life. She has a fantastic testimony and gives you practical steps to finding peace in and through God. I will say a prayer for you.

  43. @askthebugman and most of these other comments,

I realize that what you’re suggesting may very well be helpful for some people. However, we all have a tendency to hear about someone’s problem that resembles a problem we have had ourselves and then assume that it is the same thing. I think you have done just this. I’m not pointing this to be rude or argumentative, but there were some very important things said in the letter that was sent to you that you seemed to have missed because you were already relating this case to your own or others.

    1. “I brought in samples of bugs that I have literally ripped from my skin and he said none of them were bugs.” The professionals have seen what this person thinks are the bugs and have decisively said that they are not bugs. So far, this could be what you think it is… but keep reading.

2.”I am NOT crazy, I have never had a problem like this in my entire life, I don’t think I see things, I don’t hear things, I am not crazy and nobody will believe me. I am being kicked out of my apartment because I demanded they spray for these things, I have lost friends, I have lost credibility with everyone.” Read that again, “lost credibility with everyone”, not one or two people. Sometimes, when our bodies (or minds) tell us one thing and EVERYONE who cares about us tell us something else, we have to acknowledge that it could be our own bodies (or minds) that our lying to us.

    3. “I will go to my grave telling people I am being eaten alive, I don’t care what anyone tells me, I know this is real My church Pastor even said he would help me if I went to their therapist, of course, they would pay!!! They have me on tranquilizers, and want me to go on an antidepressant…” The people that are in this person’s life, and I would assume more than a couple of them care deeply about this person have all been shown “the evidence” and have tried to explain that this is a psychological issue. You don’t get put on tranquilizers and antidepressants without having other possibilities considered and dismissed by healthcare professionals.

    4. “I don’t have a dime to my name from fighting these things, I buy insecticide by the case, I use a bottle of OFF every night on my body, and I am now passing out from using this DEET, they tell me not to use it, but have no alternative.

They are even on my towels, they are in my drawers where my clothes are.”

Really look at what this person is describing, it does NOT really match with the symptoms the rest of you have experienced!

    5. “I am not a crack-pot, I am not a nut case, I am desperate. Anything you ask me to send you to prove who I am, I will. I will be waiting for your reply, I pray to God you believe me.”

If the original writer of the letter reads this post, I want you to encourage you not to get caught up in the stigma that admitting to having these issues makes you a “crackpot” or “nut case”. If your arm was not working properly because it was broken or you had a debilitating physical disease, you would admit it and let a doctor treat you. If part of your brain is not working properly, you should treat it the same way. Again, if your body is telling you one thing but all of the people that care deeply about you are telling you something else, you need to admit that it could be your own body that is wrong!

    • Joe please let us know how you are doing. I feel so sorry for everyone who experiences this. We know that it is physical but it certainly affects you psychologically as time goes on. I am so thankful that I found this blog. I am a nurse and I could not find any help with the traditional medical community. The bugman’s explanation was the only plausible one that I could find. My family is completely cured now. Hope you are too.

    • I know we all have compassion for any one suffering from these symptoms. We all know that, for the most part, it is physiological and not psychological. Symptoms can vary according to type of exposure or the body’s response to that exposure. I hope and pray that she stopped using the DEET and OFF by the case. IF she read any of these posts surely she stopped. I didn’t see any posts that were dismissive or disrespectful. Do you have any further suggestions for treatment ?

Posted by Debbie Gill | September 29, 2012, 11:19 pm
    • I believe you, my issues were the same. I took several little insects? in for ID to doctors, dermatologist, even sent many to the University of Maryland, all reponses were negitive. Then I made the mistake of spraying insecticides, this along with other environment issues weaken my immune system. The bitting, sores, crawing got worse, my health, mentally and physically were fading quick. Blessed, My family reconized this and found me a doctor that specialzed in Morgellons and Lymes. At first I was not sure because she said not to bring samples, but My first visit I was amazed..She showed me several test tubes and asked if I reconized any, finally a doctor who understood.
I know now it is a Bacterial infection for sure, Although bugs/parisites were involved early on, I believe the insecticides or environment contibuted to my final conditions. Morgellons.

  44. I thought I was going crazy. I had the invisible bug bite syndrome too. After lots of web surfing and trying various remedies, I tell you what. I discovered bed bugs. Once I knew what to look for, I kept finding them. So don’t rule them out. They don’t bite through clothing, I have taken to wearing long underwear and socks to bed, until I get around to throwing it out (sigh – soon!). Now I only get bites on my hands. Doing toxic things like bombing my bedroom and spraying bifentrin on the carpet helped but didn’t eradicate them. Need to find fipronil in a spray form. The thing that made the most sense was I read that there can be a delayed recation from the time one is bit to the time the welt comes up. Mine are kind of brazen, I find them walking across the bed. Very easy to snag with a piece of tape. Tea tree ointment is helping heal the existing bites. Back when I was doing the “what if it’s ….” I thought it might be a skin fungus and treated with fungal cream. Oddly it cleared up on my arms (but moved to my legs) which makes me think perhaps there was something in the fungal cream that repelled them. My skin rash is improving, unlike my relationship with my boyfriend whom I think is the one that brought them into my bedroom. (he has many questionable habits, like salvaging items out of the dumpster, shopping at second hand stores, etc).

  45. Dear Bugman,

I appreciate your assistance to the many on this site. However, I believe that with regards to the people describing the flying white specs (a bio-engineering feat disguised cleverly as a speck of dust that can defy the direction of the wind and any object moving against it), you would be incorrect about it being a “bacterial reaction that is the result of chemicals” alone. That is only part of what sustains it, not what it subsists as. The reason I know this now is because these white dots (which many have described to you above) when left alone in a room WILL and DO multiply, they move on their own (but tend to mimic the behavior of dust particles whenever possible), and will furthermore disguise themselves as long strands of hair (which upon inspection under a powerful microscope reveals that they are cylinder-like creatures that are designed, or perhaps engineered…to look this way to the naked eye and blend in as such).

These things are affecting my electronics now (whether I am in a place for weeks at a time or not) – they are attracted to any form of heat or electricity, be it static or other. Also, another observation has been made and video taped: random proximity (from 8 to 10 feet away) of people on a public transit – who do not know of and are not privy to any of this information (196 out of 200 people studied) ALL begin to sneeze, cough, scratch, and look around them. 40 of the 200 immediately began to slap their arms and check their clothing to figure out what (without saying a word, but showing it in obvious form)…what is suddenly affecting them.

You might get people to buy the “bacteria in the gut” thing…but anyone who has seen and observed this long term knows better. If you are willing to share the rest of the information you’re not saying (if you know it and are being told to withhold it or tell people otherwise), it would help a tremendous amount of people. It would also save me from having to buy a third laptop when this one becomes fully compromised like the others and overheats as well.

P.S: Changing my diet did not help. The only thing that does is a nasty smelling self-made aerosol of brewer’s yeast. What will you tell me or them with regard to this? Not to eat meat or processed foods at walmart, or GMOs, or aspartame? I’ve never consumed any of those things, and my immune system is very strong. So what now? Please don’t try to backpedal and repeat the same exact information that you’ve repeated to everyone else. It doesn’t hold true with what this really is. Thanks.

    • If they have been examined under a microscope by a scientist, and they were some kind of creature they would have a name. Thousands of samples have been sent to entomologists, acarologists, and others and nobody has described a new species. I went to a house in northern NM two weeks ago to help someone with IBBS symptoms. She thought she had mites and she had white particles in the air that she thought were affecting her. Her counters and tables were covered with a light film of this material including some clump together. It wasn’t mites. She had a wooden ceiling, so I inspected the attic to she if she had rodents or bats up there. She didn.t. She had a lot of blown insulation in the attic and it was falling into the house between the slats in the ceiling. As you probably know, most insulation contains asbestos. The white particle were affecting her but they wegren’t mites. They were very small particles of asbestos she was inhaling. I suggested she move out of the house, get the insulation removed and the attic and house completely cleaned and to tell her doctor she has been exposed to too much asbestos.

    • I am 52 yr old woman experiencing all symptoms of IBBS. Treated home with bug bombs and other chemicals for spiders then bizzarre happenings around my home. I have the fibers, metal flecks, lint balls etc. My skin too has parasitic activity as I often leave the wormlike whatever on whatever I touch. Certain activities cause my skin to expell these things in large numbers. The black dots come to the surface in clusters then slowly fade back into deeper layers and the parasitic creatures exit along with what almost like pus. Ive also been observant enough to notice the little white things seem to multiply. Im very clean and after wiping surface and returning to find more in the same place. Also want to know if anyone has noticed the strange movement in fibers such as linens. The fabric has what appears to be a thread or something under surface. I can feel actual fiber then it quickly flattens and seems to vanish. Also the threads or fibers that seem to grow out of household objects and react to touch by moving. The fibers have characteristis lint balls either on end or several small ones the length of the fiber. Im an educated and very analytical so this is disturbing me greatly. It seems like the bacteria is equipped with an artificial intelligence of sort. I know I sound strange but if you knew me you would consider what Im seeing as real and what I say as fact. Im concerned for my grandchildren in contact with me. Im trying to help myself by reading all the tips online for treatment but I will admit to being somewhat frightened by what Im witnessing. There has to be more we can do. This is more than Chemical although that is logical part. There is another aspect that is unnerving and weird. Thanks.

  46. Hello,

My 4 year old son wakes up each morning with multiple bite marks on his body. We have switched his beds, vacuumed and washed all his bedding, and searched high and low for any sign of what could be biting him…to no avail. Nobody else in the family is being affected by whatever this is. His bites have the appearance of mosquito bites, are very itchy, and he scratches them until they scab. He then scratches the scab and now his legs, arms and torso are covered in scars! We avoid all chemical skin care products and cleaning agents. We also eat a mostly organic diet, although still fairly heavy in dairy, sugar and wheat. Maybe I need to eliminate those from his diet and see if that helps? Do you also suggest a probiotic supplement? Anything else you think may help my little guy? I just feel so sorry for him and don’t know what to do…? Thanks for any help :)

    Posted by Rachel | October 2, 2012, 7:29 am
    • I would definitely remove the dairy and sugar from his system and see if that helps. If not then you may want to try probiotics.

      Posted by askthebugman | October 2, 2012, 6:16 pm
    • I would use a good probiotic and FOS to feed it.Eliminate the sugar and wheat. If he were my child, and I didn’t see quick results, I would consider seeing a good allergist and or a dermatologist. You might want to look up a food rotation diet and try that. It is hard with a four year old. I will be praying for you. God can give you wisdom.

      • Nothing hurts more then too see our children suffer. Debbie and the Bugman have passed along some great info, but, if you need. You may want to check with Ginger Savely, she has helped many. It has cost me close to two thousand dollars but who can put a price on getting well, special the little ones.

      • I seen her at her Washington DC office, a very compassionate lady. Combining traditional, with a Holistic approach. Much of what Bugman has said to all, are her same words.

      • Thanks for that information. I’m sure it would be worth it if you have tried every thing else. Dr. Savely may do some in the office treatment and then work with the patient by phone if they are out of her local area. I just heard today about a man who had been committed twice because of Morgellon’s. There is a real physical cause for it. I only had symptoms for a short period of time but long enough to know that it was real. My daughter was sick for a lot longer. She was more upset about being told it was psychological than she was about the actual symptoms! Thank God, I do all the time, that we got the information from this web site that explained what was causing it.

    • It is invissible bug bite and not syndrome it happens to very few and your son is one This is due to settling of such bugs near and arround. Possible remedies are . : Change location some what away from existing. Try to improve skin immunity by applying natural skin toner. Improve child`s general health by providing good and hygenic food. Give him dry fruits and boiled eggs This is in addition even if you feel he is keepinng normal health because he needs extra edge due to the rear problem he is facing now

  49. This is a very interesting article, and while I feel this could be the case for some people I think most of the time its all mental. I’ve never had bed bugs before let alone any bugs in my house besides spiders or silver fish in the basement, up intill I moved to nyc. I moved in to a friends apartment in the summer and kept waking up to bites that I thought were mosquito bites. Boy was I wrong they were bed bug bites. I couldn’t sleep at all for those days that I lived there, thankfully I moved out. But I developed a mental thing about bugs because of that traumatic experience. I still sometimes I can sleep bc I think somethings crawling on me, I know its just me being paranoid so I don’t scratch it first I rub it to see if there is something on me and 99 percent of the time its nothing. So now when ever I think I feel an itch, I check the first time anytime after that I try not to play mind to my paranoia my body has developed from the stupid bed bugs. And if I start to get real itch I take a shower and dust the sheets or change the sheets and it gives me peace of mind. Try not to pay attention u guys that’s what’s driving most of u insane causing urself to scratch urself till u get sores. I understand what you guys are going through but remember mind over your body, tell urself its nothing there there are no bugs its jus ur body playing tricks or the crumbs and dirt u dragged in from ur feet. And stay calm it helps me to get over my paranoia. Goodluck.

  51. I have had the same thing. I’m 15 and I got these red spots on me as well. I thought it was the Sun so I let it go for a day and my mom took me into the ER because it kept getting worse. When I got there THREE DOCTORS didn’t knpw what it was. Again, they thought ot was scabies but I don’t think so either. I googled it but haven’t come up with anything as well. If you find out what it is could you reply? Cause I also saw tiny bugs but the dcotor specifically said: “THEY ARE NOT FROM BUGS.” I’m not crazy either… what the heck is this rash? (Also, do you feel weak and sore?)

    Posted by Kristen | October 8, 2012, 5:59 pm
    • If you have only had this for a couple of days, I would not panic. Just give your body time to take care of it. There are many different kinds of symptoms on this blog. Without doing a double blind study, there is no way to know for sure what each individual has.

  52. I am sorry you got the reply to your pleading. I have been coping with a very similar problem for more than 2 years. When I consulted my PCP about it he “diagnosed” Facticious dementia”. I’ve never had any mental issues in my life. It’s not just me that has the problem. My roommate and my 2 dogs have them too. Ours are visible, but because they bite and burrow, when doctors are willing to indulge me, the sample contains skin. When my urine is checked, despite the fact that they are visible, the test always comes back negative for bacteria. Same with stool samples. About every 2 weeks a new batch hatches and I’m so miserable. I am extremely clean to start with, and I’ve been thru 3 pest control companies plus what I’ve done with Do It Yourself stuff. If you’ve learned anything new since this post, please share your knowledge. I don’t know how much more I can take.

  53. I’ve been dealing with the same thing for over a year now. Last night was the first frost and I was hopeful it would “kill” whatever was in my car, however, not so. I feel as though my legs are the target more than my hair and I often find that “hairs” are “biting me”. Yes, sounds like I need a rubber room and anti-psychotic medication until I read this article regarding chemicals a month ago. I used to bomb my car/house almost dai, drank diet coke, used colgate, dial soap etc. When I read this article I was shocked and didn’t believe these bugs, yes, can actually pick them off me, however is a chemical response. I’ve spent thousands on drs, chemicals, etc only to cont having the same issues. Its been a month since I stopped the chemicals, Diet Coke, Soaps, etc and noticed a tiiny improvement. Thank you for your post as this IS the “bug” problem. I did have a worm infestation from the beech but am xtremely clean as welll and its definatley NOT bugs, its an allergic reaction to chemicals and TRUST ME, I’ve been through everything the person who emailed the post u posted had done to no avail. Until we realize nobody else is having this problem and they reside in the same house, ride in the same car, etc, then our bodies will remain a battlefiel, our lives interrupted and no cure, until, you listen to what was posted about the chemicals. This is 100% the only thing that now makes a bit of sense to me. My dermatologistg said delusional parisitosis was hard to treat, lol, if he only knew how hard but first denial needs to be understood and only then will u start to get better. Cut the chems, cut the aspartame, stop the craziness I went through and am still trying to control, because its xactly what’s stated here, not bugs. I even took a tissuebox full of “samples”. Stop, read this and listen. Trust me, while a slow process as it states, its the only thing that’s worked so far. Thank you so much for your post!! You’ve helped me!

    • Kimberly, We also have found the intormation here to be invaluable. When we slip back into old patterns, some of the symptoms return. I wrote a post on here somewhere about some of the products we used to help facilitate detox. Don’t have time to re-do it now. My daughter swears by Mega-Zyme. She takes 4 three times a day at the first sign of symptoms. Good luck and keep us posted.

      • Thanks Debby!! Its definatley taken a toll on my well being, relationships and I may forever b paranoid and afraid in my own home but have found some help with the probiotics, garlic and black walnut. When I had to deal w the roundworms, I tthought I would go crazy for sure, my dr said he was suprised I was still passing them and is now testing me for filarial worms. I feel like iits bacterial and my hair seems to be involved now “literally jerks”. I kn ow this sounds crazy but I’m guessing it all does. Its happening. Very depressing. Thank u for your help. Any help at all is gratefully appreciated!!

      • Kimberly, you are not crazy. There are many bizarre symptoms.Follow through with all parasite cultures and look at all medications, artificial sweeteners, sun screen, insect repellent, perfume, cleaning supplies etc.All these things should be avoided if possible. Of course if you have diagnosed parasites, you have to kill those off then your body should begin to recover. There is much advice on the web and it is so hard to determine what is best. You can’t go wrong with what you are doing. Doesn’t that black walnut taste nasty? It can stain your teeth so rinse after use. Good luck.

  54. i was having the ame problem , i couldnr see what was biting me and other family members were having same thing
turns out that before this happened we had a pipe break in our kitchen so waterstayed under vinyl even after using dehumidifier to suck up mostoire of water turns out we took a piece of vinyl out there was mold we has to take it all out clean it with bleach and water let it dry do it again then when completely dry put down new vinyl did u know that can give u mold spores and little bugs invisible to eye that bite you if not taken care of. so after we seen moisture and mold we took care of it we know longer are suffering bites . make sure theres no moisture or mold in your house.
just an idea it helped us .

    • Hi Maria, we are having the same problem you are with the bugs you can’t see and I agree with you we have dampness under our home and maybe thats why we are having this problem so we will try to figure out how to get rid of the dampness and they will hopefully be gone thank you.

      Posted by Bonnie | October 16, 2012, 8:25 pm
    • To Maria: right around the time all od this started, I too, had a leak so bad that we had to gut our bathroom and the mold remains over our ceiling as our landlord will not get this handled. We do not have the money to move at this time and I’m unsure if the mold, which did become airborne while I cleaned it as I didn’t know it would do this if it wasn’t wet prior to cleaning..anyway, shortly after this is when I started breaking out with what I thought were bug bites and the feeling of bugs crawling and biting me….THE NORM by docs “you have delusional paraites” or another said “Anxiety”. At this point I was wayyy past anxiety to feeling psychotic as I watched my skin I was so vane about, turn into a battleground…I started with alll the chemicals while I chugged my Diet Cokes, woke up to a wonderful shower with my Dial soap and brushed my teeth withyep, u guessed it, Colgate. I ended up sick of going to the doctor when I finally went to an allegist, sure another waste of time and money, however, unkbenownst to me, he studied parisotology in South Africa, etc. He asked me why I was there and I smuggly said, I’m just allergic to life” as Id given up hope on any doctor helping me. He told me who and what he did in his lifetime and I thought I met God. Come to find out I had a drug allergy to a medicine which was exactly what caused the nonhealing sores of ove a year now. He also told me to stay away from everything the BugMan did. When I read this article the other day, I coujldnt believe how the two saiid the same thing. I started trying what they said and low and behold I’m gaining weight back (went to 99 pounds) and my nails no longer are splitting, hair is getting stronger and these sores are healing better everday. I hope you find peace and take the time to read these articles. Its amazing the amnt of money I spent on making myself worse. Good Luck and keep Praying.

  55. I have dealt with reoccurances of these “invisible” mites in my mother’s home on and off for so many years. Whenever I would visit home and sleep in my old room, I would feel like I’ve been getting bitten all night. I have recently moved back, and these bugs are feasting… But only at night.

There are no stains that suggest bedbugs, I can’t see them. They leave no marks, but it could be because I am African American and a honey toned color. Maybe the marks don’t show up on my skin. We are very clean, and there are no animals living here, but my mother lets any Tom, Dick and Harry sleep over in my bed, when I am not here and most of them have “questionable” hygiene.

  56. Dear Bug Man… by the way do you ever talk by phone? I am in need of some help and do better expressing myself live. If not, here goes…

I don’t know what I have. I am a very sane, intelligent person with no history of delusions/paranoia. I am getting bitten by invisible bugs… though sometimes I can see little black specs/fibers from them. Actually, quite a lot in the beginning before I started treating them more correctly. They bite me around my chest, love my feet (horribly infested all my shoes), are in my hair… My ankles have some lesions. I can’t tell if they are from shoe scrapes… but I think it’s the bugs.

I think that when I soak in a strong soap by SHakelee, they come out of my body… they then look like black specs or tiny white slugs? Or maybe that’s something else coming out of my skin, like puss (sorry to gross anyone out).

This started two years ago. I belived it was fleas and treated with chemicals, chemicals, chemicals. It didn’t go away but it was managable. Three months ago it became unmanagable. My lungs started shutting down, the itching became unbearable, the panic huge. I am now on anti-anxiety meds and wear rubber shoes. I do not use many chemicals and am on a more organic treatment kick. I am taking vitamins, etc. I have tried a number of things which appear to help but not solve the problem. I used permethrin cream and lice treatment twice (that helped). I wash my clothes with ammonia in hot water (that sometimes helps, not always). I use a special enzyme to spray my room and belongings… believing these may be mites that could be killed by this enzyme (not sure if it’s working).

At a certain point I started to think I was just crazy because I could get rid of them on my clothes, belongings for a few hours, maybe a day, but then they’d return. They are worse at night so I take sleep medication.

Recently, I had proof I am not imagining this. I went to my mother’s house and her dog is now infected, scratching all the time. My mother is feeling it a little bit too. Any thoughts? I’ve asked three doctors, two exterminators, read blog after blog… I am at a loss and in much pain! THank you thank you thank you for any suggestions you can offoer. All best.

    Posted by Jessica | October 24, 2012, 5:58 pm
    • It doesn’t sound like bugs. If you are using permethrin, that isn’t good. Don’t go near any pesticides and watch your diet as mentioned on other places on the blog. The specks and fibers you see may be clumps of bacteria trying to exit your body to get away from the chemicals.

  57. Regarding Jame,s comment, mine is from mold!!! These all started when I discovered a leak in my house, after a year of this, I cleaned it without proper guidelines and every since, sores with hairlike fibers, shortness of breath, even my dog developed a softball sized tumor, etc…I’m wondering if these ?hairs aren’t spores landing on. My skin? I bought a kicken air filter w uv lights from amizon for 60 bux, normally 300…well worth cheecking out. Thanks to the Bugman and James, Big Time!!!

  58. Bugman, like everyone else here, I need some help! A friend of mine was having some sort of infestation in her apartment. She would tell me she could feel the bugs “moving” on her and biting, and said it was worse at night. I helped her move things into storage so she could have the rugs changed and we were also doing a lot of vacuuming of the rugs and furniture, which may have stirred things up.

After being in her apartment helping her for several days I started experiencing similar symptoms in my apt. I was at home sitting on my couch one evening when I started feeling stinging, tingling, itching and some biting on my lower legs. It got worse over the next day or two and I was also feeling it in bed. Also the same feeling of things “moving” and “jumping” on me that she had described. The “tingling”, “moving” sensations also spread to my arms and head.

I sprayed with an Ortho product (for bed bugs, fleas and mites) which helped knock them back for a couple days but then they started up again. I had my apartment fumigated with permethrin and that also knocked them back for a couple days before they again returned in force.

My friend and I have each put out glue traps and flying traps but didn’t see anything, even with a magnifier. Her fumigator guessed it was mites, mostly by the process of elimination. Everyone (internet, fumigators) says mites should be visible but we can’t find any evidence. Several dermotologists said it is not scabies and there is no evidence of bed bugs.

Any ideas you can give us please?

Also, I’m scared that I will transmit whatever this is to my work and infect people there. What is the likelyhood of that?

    Thanks!

    Posted by Jerry | October 30, 2012, 1:59 am
    • I doubt if you will infect anyone. It doesn’t sound like any kind of bug. More likely a chemical reaction. Read the blogs here as there are several possible causes besides mites or insects.

      Posted by askthebugman | October 30, 2012, 3:25 pm
      • Believe me, i read almost the whole blog! but the fact that i definitely picked it up from my friend seems to rule out a chemical reaction. also the fact that spraying knocks it back for a couple days. Any other possibilities? And if it does happen to be mites, how contagious are they?

        thanks.

        Posted by Jerry | October 30, 2012, 5:14 pm
      • Jerry, I know I caught this from someone as well. I think most people are safe from this unless they have a weak immuine system or unless as in your case something is done to stir up a large quanity of them at once. How is your sinuses? How about your Throat? Ive got an idea, but want to hear your answers to those questions first.

        Posted by James | October 31, 2012, 12:35 am
      • James, my sinuses and throat are fine. I do expect that we stirred up a lot of them at my friends when we vacuumed before they changed out the rug. While my friend is very sensitive to things I am not at all and generally have a very robust immune system.

I had my place fogged today by a fumigator (permethrin product). Will have to wait and see what the results are. What is your idea?

        Posted by Jerry | October 31, 2012, 5:30 am
      • Hi Jerry, I cant vouch for your case, but from what ive seen this is contagious. I know for fact it is because after wondering about it myself i finally was shown proof it is. Whenever I would visit my mom her dog would start pawing at its eyes the second I walked in the door after id become infected, welll i didnt think anything of it until my mom pointed it out.. soon after that started happening her dog got diabetes that the Dr couldnt get under control, the dog went blind and then not too longer died from the diabetes. well them one day my aunt brouight up to me how her dog alwayts paws at its eyes when i came over…same thing, both were schnauizers. her dog also got diabetes and is blind now, but still alive and doing ok. I am sure that i gave this to them just by their reacttions alone when i would see them oh and my aunts other dog a doberman, mysteriously died not too long ago as well. This affects our pets much worse than us. besides the dictyostelium that ive mentioned elsewhere on this site, maybe even the vector for the dictyo is extremely small flies of some sort, they are as small as a speck of dust and they usually fly at about knee height, not often above that, they are hard to see and are mostly a opaque whitish color. you can see them by setting up a bright light at knee height and watch for a spot reflecting in it, or when you feel them on your skin immediately slap a piece of clear 3m or even duct tape on the spot and examine with a magnifier, you will see little triangle shapes. You need a microscope to see them any closer, but kind of resemble a fungus gnat and for all i know may be? I think some people are calling these things smart dust, because, in the light coming in thru a window they look like a speck of dust moving on air currents..not really sure how to kill them, they hide really well being so small and can get thru the tiniest of cracks in the wall., not sure what they are doing on us, but my guess is eating fungus from skin or pores or laying eggs, but thats all just a guess. Regardless of whether you believe me or not or if this is your problem or not, definitely Heed Joes advice about chemicals and also about gmo foods, they are not going to help you at this point. these things will overwhelm your immune system by their numbers now that you are infected. so you need to act fast and tryto boost your immune system now instead of later. i dont know any magic bullets to kill them fast, but there is ways to get rid of them with diligence. had this almost 6 years, just figured out a year ago how to get better and am at 99% now.. good luck to you/

      • Jerry sorry for that long post, more direct answer to your question.. I believe there is a extremely small fly that is causing a lot of us this problem, I believe it is living in our pores and or in our sinuses, ears, and or throats. I believe the correct term would by Myasis. It tends to start at our feet and i believe this to be because they eat fungus they slowly work up to about our knees, then next you will feel them either on your scalp and face or your arms. go long enough llike me, and you get them in your sinuses and ears. lots more, but keep in mine this is just mmy opinions, im no doctor or bug person, just telling you what ive observed myself. Ive had morgellons 6 years although this past year im finally getting better. anyways i wish you tthe best

      • As I’ve said before in response to jerry, mine started with chronic sinusitis, sore throats and then came the bizzarre morning thrush like things, they look like worms, then dry to look like a small sticklike thing, I wouldn’t say iinsect, worm, etc. I’m really looking into candidiasis , definately fungal and suprisingly the sores do not get staph as the fungal gnats eat the bacteria. I’m sticking w this theory. My bowel movements also were pussy and had string like substances. Dropped my specimen off two days ago, can’t wait to get those results although after all the negatives, I’m not getting too excited. I’ll let y’all know.

  59. I left a message last night… ignore it.. And to everyone who is starting think that they are crazy! You’re
not… what you are feeling is real… I thought that I had IBBS even made a appointment today to see a
Psychologist, thank god I didn’t they would of diagnose me with this syndrome, to add to my list! To
the girl Angela way back in June, what you saw in the meat is a parasite, a blood fluke… The white lint
that your seeing or saw on your hands and probably everywhere else.. And serious Doc. today are not
the brightest, or they just don’t really listen to the patients, when they need too…. But the fluke enters
through your skin and its white, and changes colors to pinkish color, red, brown, but you mainly get
them from water, that is why you saw it in your meat, the cows, pigs, sheep, drink the water and get the
liver flukes. Most slaughter houses will check the liver before they send the meat, so it sounds like Bars
doesn’t!! I currently have them everywhere, because my daughter is two and she is still in the diaper
and my house is infested. I mean infested and when I first found the worms in the house,(my daughter,
was probably scared and took them out of her diaper and hid them all through house) told the doctors it
look like sheds of eggs and tissue and blood and white lint things. He told me she had the pin worm.
and I thought I had that too. Nope the fluke can look like a worm or a fish kind of thing.. I have
appointment with DR tomorrow, I will update. This is also to the first message as well, because they are
red and attach themselves, and exterminators will say it’s not a bug, they also go in your hair, towels,
nose. and mouth… And the reason she was getting it on her privates, is that is how they are released
she had the worm or came in contact with someone that did, and the eggs are in the urine and bowel
movements,,, But to all that everyone keeps telling you that its nothing, I took a sample to the Health
department, they made me feel like crap, I told them what it look liked, even told them what my
daughter did! Said it was nothing but dirt…. Go with your gut, it’s usually right.

    • Have you read everything on this blog? I would highly suggest that you go back and read everything the bug man has posted. If you have a blood fluke it will show up in tests. Read all my past posts too. What you have is real but it may not be what you think it is. We are all concerned for any one suffering with this.

      • Oh right now, Debbie I wish more then any thing, that you were right!! Unfortunately I was. We took in my daughters Bowl Movement in the doctors, it is confirmed she does have the blood fluke, how severe? I don’t know!! They are going to be running tests on her all day tomorrow! And I am almost 99% sure that she got it from me. I don’t know how long I have had it, I think I am the late stage though… I don’t think I have ms, because when I was diagnosed last year, they thought I had minagitas, and the doc came to the conclusion that with my lesions and symptoms that it was multiple sclerosis.. To the comment on the blood test, I asked the ER doctor about that, because I have had countless tests, but he said usually you can’t, it has to be specific test, you just can’t say I have parasite, (because I did say that 4 weeks ago),to find out which one! I stumble on it by accident,I got my lab results back last week and it said my liver levels where high, so I typed in on google: can parasites affect your liver? Guess what came up liver fluke, well not really thinking to much about it, I thought that I had yes, but not the blood fluke, I did more research last night and found the blood fluke and all the symtoms matched mine along with the brain lesions.. And when you are at acute stage the eggs come out of your pours! It gross as you no what! I am going to go in tomorrow, and see I wanted to go at 3:00 am last night but, my mom talked me in to waiting for one more day.. For my daughter to give her this day! She has been saying “trick or treat” for two weeks and is so excited..

      • Jamie, this just goes to show you that we can’t lump everything into one category. All the posts on here can get quite confusing. I think we get so desperate some times when we are trying to explain things that the physicians just don’t understand us and think it is only paranoia. Of course you do see people with paranoia and when you are suffering with something like this you certainly can feel paranoid, as any one would. Then there are very caring physicians that just don’t have this type of thing in their scope of experience. It is unusual. They simply don’t know what to do. I am so terribly sorry and hope that the flukes can be treated appropriately. If you have been diagnosed with MS then that adds a whole new dimension. It may not be MS at all but lesions caused from the flukes. I just wish I could reach through this blog right now and let you know how much I care and am concerned for you and your family. I am a nurse, which doesn’t mean I know a thing. You usually only become an expert in your own disease. That is why it is critical to continue to help give others information so that they can adequately assess and try to get the needed help. I would say that from now on, a stool culture for anyone continuing to suffer should be considered. Is there any other way to diagnosis it in the early stages that you know of? Knowledge is power. You know what you are dealing with and I believe that with God’s help, you will get the treatment that you need. Please keep us posted. Love and prayers, Debbie

      • Debbie and Jamie: God Bless you both, all of us!!! I’m going through the same hell going on 14 months. I too just dropped off a stool sample as I am avoiding chemicals, eating better, etc but still getting the “pimples” like ingrown hairs that turn into ulcers. I’ll let u know my results as soon as I get them. I will forward u my email as well as the bugman was awesome in doing this for me before, btw, thank you bugman. Thank u for this site for people liike us who can’t get the help we need from healthcare pros, I’m iin the healthcare field and I can’t get a handle on this yet. I do know this, stress, diet and either fungus or bacteria play a major role. God Bless. You aren’t alone by any means.

  60. I have been dealing with the invisible bugs for 3-4 years now. I have tried everything. DE, Borax, Eucolyptis Oil, Tea Tree Oil, enzymes, etc. I recently threw out and replaced furniture. I sprayed a bleach solution throughout my house, washed all clothes and bedding, froze pillows, blankets etc in a deep freezer for 12 hours at a time. It worked temporarily, but they are back again. It is so depressing. We love our home but can’t stand the onslaught every night. Yes, they only come out at night. As soon as the night comes on, so do the symptoms. My mother-in-law noticed this as well.

I rub tea tree each night in my hair, eyebrows, skin, everywhere every night for 3.5 years now. I travel a lot and do not have symptoms most times I away, if I have not taken them with me. As soon as I return, they are on me again.

I had a friend over tonight, he saw my tea tree ritual. He asked if it were the bugs. He then went on to ask me if they tickled my ears, crawled up my nose and eyebrows. He nailed it without me even telling him. He said he was feeling it all night, and was wondering if that is what I had been talking about. My wife and others have felt them as well, so i know if it not just me.

I bought a microscope and try to find samples. i have had a few, but it is hard to find an entymologist in the area, and my samples get ruined before I get a chance to have a look. No real hard proof, but certianly hair like and sometimes pink or blue in color. Glass like worms with frayed ends. I need a stronger micro with a digital camera option.

Don’t want to sell or move as we love the house, neighborhood, etc.. but don’t know how long I can keep this up. Very sad and depressing.

I wish I could definitively identify and treat, but the nightmare drags on…

    • Mine comes out at night, too. Lots of insect poop comes out of my legs soon as it gets dark. Horrible situation but had an entomologist say the debris looks like bed bug feces. I’m taking lots of garlic. He told me to spray alcohol and steam clean floors with alcohol solution. Bed bugs come out at night!!!

      • I sprayed once with Ortho Home Defense, which is birfenthrin, which knocked them down for a couple days but then they came back. Then the fumigator at our apartment complex came out and sprayed with either pyrethrin or permethrin, not sure which. It was a liquid spray, i believe on carpets and baseboards. that also knocked it back for a couple days but then it came back.

A week later i had them come out again and this time they fogged with an aerosol can of CB-80, which is pyrethrin) and that helped a lot. It seemed to take 2-3 days before they got better, which i don’t understand because I was told that pyrethrin was only a knock-down with no residual (i.e., only kills initially on contact, it doesn’t keep killing for a few days like some others do.) Maybe it weakened them and that’s what i was feeling for the couple days. But it has been a LOT better for the last 4-5 days. I thought it might be over but today i’m feeling a some symptoms again – “tingling” and feeling like they’re “jumping on me.” (Which could be due to my being over at my friend’s last night helping with her bugs, although i shed my clothes and showered right away when i got home). So I need to spray again and see if that knocks them down completely. I also got some GreenBug products which the bugman recommended in this blog. The ingredients are cedar oil and something they describe as “liquid quartz” which might be a silica gel? Haven’t tried this yet; still working with the permethrin sprays for now.

    • Thanks for sharing especially about the blue fibers. In taping my bed, body and furniture I have come up with an inordinat amount of blue fibers( I own nothing blue that could produce). The miroscope use by my exterminator doesn’t show any worm features and there has been no evidence of bugs on the tape. But, whatever it is they’re eating me up. Had 2 biopsies last week to try an identify the cause but, based on what I’ve read here, that will probably be a wasted effort. I recently had the shingles in June and have engaged pesiticide company for my lawn so I’m beginning to think the comments about the immune system issues and chemical reactions have merrit. All the comments on these sites are terrifying but, at least I know I’m not alone. Depression is kicking my butt!

      Posted by Jim | November 11, 2012, 8:52 pm
      • I too had shingoes for the third time, I’m 41yo female, prior to this as well. My biopsies were consistent with bug bite reaction and/or drug euption, allergy..my blood, urine, stool sampkes all came back normal so my immune system was shot from the shingles and stress which at thazt time was black mold in my house, then, this. I’m doing organic meat, minimized cosmetics, hair and face and am trying to remain stress free and chemical free. I’m also takiing a supplement now in relation to candida and bacteria both, again, another 35 bux prob wasted. I’ve tried everything listed in this entire website short of any medical clinical trials, and while the sores are sloughing off from not using chemicals and the supplements, I don’t believe I’ll ever be the same so my advice, forget drs, they r clueless w this, stik to no chems, no stress, no junk food, organic all the way and do everything you can to boost ur immune system and cleanse the toxicicity ur body became clogged withand only then will youj slowly, and I mean slowly, start to see resujlts. You must make sure u also get plenty of sleep as ur body heals while u sleep. After this long battle, cancers gonna be a breeze but I’m afraid I’ve used all I had lefrt in me on this. Think only God can help me at this point as its worn me to nothning. No life, money left, etc. Trying hard to get out of this frame of mind but ik know you all know where I am. We all go their, then pull ourselves back up, thanks to all who’ve helped me pull myself back up!! We r getting their, alowly but surely and thank u Bugman, I know you now have the chem speil on a cut n paste opt at this time, lol. Theirs a lot of us out their and hoopefully ur advice is the right path as I’m worn thin.

  61. I for got to mention, my friend who I got this from has been pushing her funigator to do something more. They don’t want to spray again since they don’t know what it is but they are going to try freezing with CO2. They said this will freeze everything in the apartment and should kill everything. (This should be a lot more effective than selectively freezing pillows, linens, etc.)

    Posted by jerry | November 9, 2012, 4:46 am
  62. Freezing the whole house with CO2? That sounds interesting, as I think something like that would really be the onlt solution. I would not be surprised if they receed into the the dry wall is these things are as microscopic as they get. Where are you based? Not sure if they offer this type of treatment down under.

    Posted by Rob M | November 13, 2012, 12:54 am
    • Turns out It wasn’t quite freezing the whole apartment. They spray CO2 out of a nozzle from a pressurized can so it comes out very cold (-140 degrees, according to the fumigator) and will kill any bugs they spray with it. They use it the same way they would spray a pesticide – spray the rug, walls, etc. But it’s not useful to spray clothes, books or other types of household articles, because it only freezes right where the spray hits so it’s only good for surfaces.

My guess is that it’s probably widely available.

      Posted by jerry | November 13, 2012, 7:33 am
      • I have often thought of hiring a cold room and sticj the furniture, bedding in it to freeze. Drastic, but freezing seems to help with pillows, blankets, etc. I may hire a steam cleaner, as this would get deeper into mattress and couch. Anyway, thanks for your feedback Jerry.

  64. Need advice, since 2 weeks ago i feel something biting me all over my body, at night and at work. Not sure what it is or what to do since I recently moved to a new very stressful job and office I thought the office had bugs and sprayed. A tree around my house super big was recently cut and maybe bugs from the tree flew into my house? I also bought a new detergent…My body is now covered with red bite like marks head to toe, itches horribly from toe to my hair and I do not know what to do, i don’t see anything…
    please help!

    Posted by Marie | November 16, 2012, 3:14 am
    • It isn’t any bugs off the tree. I suspect the stress has caused the problem as what you described doesn’t sound like any bug. Even mites wouldn’t bite you all over like that and if you had that many you would see them. Possibly the detergent, but something is causing bacteria in your body to react.

Hope you have found an accurate diagnosis and the treatment is effective. Be sure to follow your physicians instructions to the T with the prednisone. Good Luck.

  66. I have eczema and I have spent most of my life ignoring my triggers because it’s inconvenient. As a result, I almost always have some sort of skin rash. In fact, I wouldn’t know how to act if I didn’t! I have keratin deposits that seem like tough pimples on my shoulders, pseudo-dandruff and a plethora of other skin issues that I deal with, usually unconsciously. The point being that it takes quite a bit to get my attention. I have no idea how long I’ve had these ‘bites’ but I know that I’ve actively been seeking a resolution for over 6 months. The ones on the back of my neck made me think lice, then bedbugs, then mites, then staph infection (infected hair follicles) and I would hop back and forth trying different things all to no avail. I have gone on borderline-OCD cleaning sprees and have returned to making my own laundry detergent. I have gone back to natural shampoos and conditioners, sometimes foregoing them altogether in favor of apple cider vinegar or baking soda. I use tea tree like it’s going out of style. I don’t eat red meat and have stopped with dairy–using almond or coconut milk instead. After developing pseudo-strep throat for the 2nd time, I eliminated all artificially sweetened drinks. I am phasing gluten-free products into our pantry and have started juicing raw vegetables because I’m 90% more likely to drink them than eat them on a plate. Anyway, I am pleased with all the changes I have made but they have not affected the ‘bites’ on my neck and scalp. I feel like a guinea pig and I’m exhausted and I’m frustrated. Going completely organic and cotton-free and all that is not realistic for me. Are there cleanses that actually work to flush the toxins out so that I might see results sometime soon? I know better than to go to a dermatologist; it amazes me how much they don’t know about skin conditions. Sigh…anything you haven’t already said 43 times? ;)

I don’t buy much organic but use a wash for my fruits. I don’t eat much meat at all. You might want to look at Dr. Fuhrmans web site. He has a book called ” Eat to Live.” It is great. It is lots of hard work but you can do it. Do you have any digestive symptoms?

  69. I have some proof to say that what is happening is not a syndrome but a real invisible bug bite.
Please note carefully what is happening to me almost since three years, one year after my joining and only inside my office cabin at place Barbil, Orissa state of india One important thing to be noted is that whenever I change my cabin inside my factory which is an iron ore pellet plant, bug biting do not take place for a day or two but starts back with same sevearity and remains continueously till I sit inside. The fact that this IBB does not happen to all others who are sitting inside my cabin gives a doubt that it may be some chemical action inside my skin. But some more symptoms happening to me rule out this.During the bite on my face head and other open skin area ocassionaly I feel some bug is entering my ear and even my eyes some time.
I have come to following conclusion based on my IBB experience.
It is a real microbe type invisible bug bite.
This IBB happens to few people probably due to skin smell and also because of weak immunity from skin.
But surely it happens in some forest or mines locations but for very few persons such that one may find such bite never happens to any body else even if the person is weak in general immune.
Best possible remedy to counter this problem:
    Change the location
    Use natural skin toner
Avoide using excess soap or chemicals
    Try to maintain good health
Wishing for the best and for relief from iBB

  70. I’m guessing you’ve never heard of this because I haven’t seen you make mention of it… But with this poor woman & probably all of the others are suffering from what is being called Morgellon’s disease. Most people believe it is caused by chemicals pumped into out atmosphere by airplanes spraying “chemtrails” in an effort to manipulate the weather & as a by-product also manipulate crop fields & harvests. It’s presents with these itching sypmtoms, lesions, colored fibers like you mentioned that can come out of the body and are found in the lesions & scabs themselves. You can look into this further as there are many websites, YouTube videos, etc. with evidence of these symptoms & what these people who suffer from this think is causing it, & what they have tried to do to help the disease. Unfortunately I believe that this disease is not accepted as real by the government or the CDC which might be part of the reason this woman & many others have problems getting any straight answers. I have seen a very simple test one can do to test yourself for Morgellon’s disease. If you have some organic grape juice or red wine (and you can look this method up elsewhere to be sure, but this is how I was told it works) and it has to be organic to work properly… Take the liquid & swish it in your mouth for quite awhile… It can take upwards of 5-6 minutes. Then spit the liquid onto a white plate or other clean, white surface where you can best see the contents of your mouth. Once you spit it out, look at the liquid & people with Morgellon’s will have fine, thread-like, mostly clear, strings or fine spider web like threads all over mixed in with the liquid. ( If you want to see what the results look like to compare, there are many videos on YouTube with positive results)
So I hope at least this info gives someone at least an extra avenue to look into that can help them in their search for relief!
    Thanks, Diana

I’m so glad I ran across your site, I was in a similar situation this past summer but its different and I’m not sure if its the same, I too woke up one night feeling stuff crawling all over me my bf reassured me that it was nothing(I freak totally out if I see a bug and he wanted to sleep lol) but the next day I kept feeling crawling almost poping feelings on my face and arms I started to notice little lint pieces on my face like one or two and the next day I noticed a bite right above my right boob lol like right under my clavical,it was sore and I had no clue where it came from ppl came out told me nothing was in my aprt or matress and like you said they wanted to spray the heck out of my place but I said no! Few days later I notices a small black tip comming out of my bitten are I took out what looked like a stinger! But also at the time I stopped taking my newly started suplement MSM idk which was fthe reason but the crawly feeling stoped after I did both so after stoping msm for a week(iwasnt on it long) I began to take it again and I it started the crawly feeling so I stoped taking the msm lol I want to started again its a good supplemtn but I can’t deal with the crawly weird stuff I also sprayed my window seals which had black mold and the mold went away I didn’t raise my windows for monts but when I did no crawly feeling so I’m not really sure if it was mold , the stinger or msm either way I was trying to get rid of that ish!

  72. In Europe, people sometimes become infected with what is called the “crabs.” The infection is often passed through sexual contact or uncleanliness. I had the crabs once back in the early sixties; as a travelling professional musician my group was provided free living quarters where we stayed, and sometimes they were rather unclean. We even experienced that the bed sheets hadn’t been changed.

The crabs which I experienced were very small and appeared slightly reddish. They caused intolerable itching, although they didn’t seem to bite directly. A visit to the doctor resulted in the usage of a powder which killed them in masses, for a few days my shorts were speckled with little bodies and then the drama was over.

    Posted by Ralph | December 2, 2012, 10:18 am
    • Crab lice are one of three types of lice that get on humans. The other two are head lice and body lice. Crab lice are transferred by sexual intercourse. They do not leave the host person and get in furniture or in clothes. Oddly enough they will also infest chimpanzees, but no other animals. I guess humans and chimps are closely related, or at least taste the same.

    • Crabs would be a relief Ralph, however I’m wondering, do they live for six years as some people have had this for that long? Do crabs come ot of your skin looking like fibers and many other odd appearing “dead” organisms? No. Morgellons does this. It produces “insect and/or mite appearing organisms”. Why does everyone go the derm w a boxful of their skin? If I was a derm id thnk we were all delusional too…but as this site is proving, epic numbers of people are dealing w the same thng, “something new in our society” as the plague was in bibllical times. No cure, just relief of symptoms. The first step is finding this site, the second, avoiding everythng bugman mentions in this site which gives you the sanity you need to research urself starting with dycosylium (sp?) Mold/candidal systemic yeast infection diet and/or take ur chances and spend thousands like I did on doctors and products which put me in my current situation. Whatever you do, I can’t stress enuff, don’t pick and stop sugar…the answer we r all looking for is how to become healthy again from the inside, out. The bugmans answer to the IBBS is the only answer that even came close to helping me, if anyone out their doesn’t know why they can’t get anyone to listen, believe you or heal urself, then you may have what people named this “morgellons” too. A lot seems insane like nanos, chem trails etc, u be ur own judge but start with cutting chemicals, etc…copy and paste is phenominal approach, as many people do not read the blog, 210 comments which in itself is scary, but real. Stop chemicals, stop sugar, end of story until u see a news brodcast appear of a new disease spreading like wildfire in the country. Until then the only thng u can do is the above.

  73. Let me guess first you feel something crawling on your stomach, neck, face, EVEN INSIDE YOUR NOSE. After you feel it crawl its a sting and then your in the mirror trying to dig some shit out that only you can see. no one else is getting bit and no one can see the little red, black, blue, or white specs. they kinda look triangular shaped. After they bite you they almost seem like they attached them selves under a few layers of your skin and are growing with ever taste of you. they make the inner part of your vagina look like you have warts or pimples or some crap the only way you can pry them from your flesh is with tweezers and some scissors its could almost be described as shards of glass in that area. went to the doctor and the said that theres nothing maybe your allergic to your laundry soap or your waters to hard on you…. you literally want to die.. I know the answer …. what you got is real

    • Let me guess?? A chemical reaction from too many chemicals used to treat urself and ur house…the chemicals build up toxins in ur body ur body can’t efficiently elimiinate so what ur seeing is the bacteria coming out of ur pores which also could be fungal in nature, most likely in fact..short and I mean short, as their are a million different thngs that go with this, but U most likely went through a stressful event lately or something that lowered ur immune system whiich woke up a sleeping monster quite possibly called candida albicans, a fungal infection. Look up this condition and also dycosyleum mold or “slime mold” as what ur feeling “crawling etc” is a huge chance its fungal in nature..ur best bet is to NOT self treat w chemicals and do not take any meds as this needs to be healed w time, diet and excerscise as many have stated in this site..also do xactly what the bugman has on copy n paste mode most likely at this point as its the best answer or read the answer from “james”..its helped me tremendously and I’ve been dealing w this hell for 15 mnths..trust me, don’t pick, will destoy ur life and may lead to Morgellons which is hell on earth. I’m not a Doctor and they may be able to help you only if you have a real sample..or they most likley will tell you u r delusional if u walk in w something for them to see. Its sad and obv a horrible disease that until now, never knew existed but if I knew then what I know now, I would never have touched the “bites” and would never, possibly, have Morgellons now. So, don’t pick, no chemicals, eat healthy, cut sugar and stress and good luck!!! Read all these blogs and stay true to what everyone is saying. Don’t let it go too far. Btw, I’ve had a mites or parasites for 15 months, not possible. Sorry.

  75. I live in the UK and recently my cat got fleas which I think came from a stray that keeps coming in our house at night. We treated our cat but I think the little buggers have infested our house. Although I have not seen any in weeks I am getting bit every night and my legs are now covered. Is there a equivalent UK/ European Green bug treatment I have looked but found nothing.

  76. Hello Mr Bugman, is it possible that these “invisible” bugs are Demodex?
Those pesky skin parasites that are part of the natural “flora” of humans and animals sometimes get over abundant when one’s immune system is weekend by chemicals and anti-biotic and steroids type meds.

You can see your dogs get startled out of his sleep and act all weird like he’s being bit by some invisible crawlers.

Would it be good to take Probiotics and avoid chemicals?

My dog was treated all it’s life for allergies with prednisone and sometimes antibiotics when the skin got infected by too much scratching until one day it got so bad I ended up driving far to a pet dermatologist who looked for and found an overgrowth of demodectic mange and treated for that. My dog is better now although he’s still allergic to pollen but I treat with oinment only.

    Thanks for all you do.

  78. I want to cry. I think it has been about a year now that I felt these things crawling on me. I see white fibers on my sheets and in the air if I shake my clothes out in direct sunlight. it is not really the itch but the crawling sensation like worms but I cannot see or oul anything off of me. My mother complained of this in 2009 after slipping into a coma from the same meds given to MJ that caused his death. She was diabetic her sugar fell she passed out. Took glucose ame around. Too much glucose made her anxious , they gave atavan then she had respitory failur. Gave her propopal and intibated three times. She was in a coma 1 month before the crazy doctors would kisten too me. Diabetes for 20 yrs. lead to reanal failure and her kidneys could not flush the propapal so it took a day for her to wake up after she was completely off med. smh.. she complained that she felt like bugs crawling in her after recovery , and in her nose for two yers after that. Then she was told sshe had some kind if fungus in her stomach and esophagus. she was in so many meds . but theses are chemicals.

    • well, you mentioned stress, I have 5 kids and a husband who was in Iraq and has ptsd. Between my taking care if my mom and keeping my family sane and unemployment here and there, I guess I qualify . My mom passed in my home Feb 2011 which made the situation in my hone sad and stressful.I started smoking to destress. More Chemicals! I noticed when I came back from her house I started feeling the fi ers but cant see anythibg on my skin. No Slime.Just tiny white fibers that look like lent or cat hair. Can only aee them on dark sheets or surfaces or floating in the air in direct sunlight. like white lent.
sometimes tthey stop ike now they are quiet but when I move or think about them they start up. I can hear them pop around my ears then they calm down. they seem worse around wood and the static electricity from my computer makes them crazy . I can feel them drop iff and down. They react to nerves. sometimes I fet frustrated and just cry. I was depressed and think the residuals from ptsd caused trauma damage. My husband is better Thank God,Kids are fine, Im so thankfuk but I am left with this stuff. No one in the house complains but me. I foufgt so hard to save my mom and family I do not have the energy to deal with this. I,a child psychologist studying the effects if ptsd has had so much ptsd that I think my nervous system over loaded and I am too depressed. I cleaned washed sheets sprayed chemicals which I know not to do now. Thanks!:-) I discovered carpet beetles. killed them with boric acid. washed with hot water and borax. Pray. But faith without works is dead. I guess God wants me to quit smoking go to the gym keep an immaculate home and totally change how I eat. we finally haave a trader Joes and a whole foods. please pray that God blesses me with strength obedience and the ability to implement a new life style. im crying now because he brought me through so much but still have to fight. for my sanity. I pray we find a cure. Being kind to ourselves and oyr environment. we need to lobby the gov. to stop using all this stuff in our foods and goods and services. I will beat this too! :-) Thanks.

precisely what you are communicating about! I personally totally approve.

  81. I am on my cellphone reading this, I can’t read everything so I am not sure if this has been covers but there is more to it than chemicals. Mold spores can cause this, a fungus from springtails will also give the feeling of being bit. I have been going through this for the past two years and it only effects me, I know for a fact that we had springtails and mold in my old condo I was renting. We moved in and it was infested with fleas, rats, mold, springtails and who knows what else. This is when my nightmare began! Here is one story I found online with someone who had the same issue and was able to treat it. http://ehealthforum.com/health/topic108749.html#axzz2JcgsmiTY. There are many others online and they all have the same symptoms, people are not looking in the right place for the answer. For the past two years I have been blaming biting midges aka (no-Seeums) or Thrips which until next Tuesday I will go to the dermatologist to confirm what’s wrong. There are just way too many misleading info out there about the IBBS when it is most likely from mold spores or a fungus. Good Luck all I wish everyone the best since I know what it is like because I am dealing with it daily!

  82. There is irrefutable scientific proof that many people who are experiencing these symptoms are testing postive for agrobacterium and other fungal and parasitic coinfections. This is no longer attributed to Delusions Of Parasitosis. There are many scientists who are now studying this emergent problem. Thank you.

  83. IBBS is not a chemical reaction inside the human body but is the effect of enveronment. IBBS happens to one or two persons and that too in perticular enclosed room where the person regularly uses such as office room. To overcome this frequently apply.any good quality sanitizer liquid or oil free moisturizer to complete face and all other exposed skin portion. Slowly and steadily you will stop rubbing and scratching. Vasant B Bhadri

  84. Perhaps you would elaborate on the agrobacterium and fungal crossed…theory. where did you get this information and what makes you believe this? I first wrote on this site maybe a year ago and am finally having some healing with the ulcerations by util, izong salycilic acid and avoiding chemicals, also eating and sleeping right. I do not have complete resolution but know its fungal and bacterial in nature. I look forward to the day someone has the answers once and for all. I know its systemic, stress, poor diet caused with perhaps candida in nature and is very serious and life-altering as well as life-threatening at times. Its very important to eat and sleep right, relax and do your best to heal inside out. Anyway, any new information regarding agrobacterium versus delusional parisitosis would be appreciateed. Thank you.

    • I noq think it is fungal in nature. I stopped with stimulants luke caffine. Sugar aggrivates it. I also took a detox tea. Thwn I added a canidida soap and supplement. Much less aggrivations but now im adding exercise. My husband has a fungal skin disorder that he will not treat and I believe attracts this crap. Idk im sick of ut but better off now. I think once you had it you are hypersensitivie to anything that touches you. Psychosis! Your brain learns and acts defensively. I conduct research on children and brain function.

    • That happenend to me typed a book and hit suit and gone. Does anyone hear them popping. I think there are some kind of mites or carpet bugs in my sons room. He is away at college which is near the beach. I think the itchy bites in his room, now the laundry room is not connected. I think we all experience a combination of various enviornmental issues. Some real bugs. Some psychosis due to ocd…thinking what could this be??? And yes……… . CHEMICAL REACTIONS. Father in heavan I just ask for complete healing for all suffering. Reveal what we need and make available resources for every recovery. Last give us the obedience and will to change our lives to facilitate health and healing. Amen.

  87. how can anyone say they know what or what not this is? Insects have become resistant as ever and carry disease. They just found a new mosquito a couple of months ago and you can see that. Now a year ago you’d say there never was such an insect. We had war for 20 years and technology up the ass. Everyone in power makes decisions based on what they think is best and we know the outcome of that. GMO food, GMO bugs, Biowarfare, researchers putting human DNA in fruit flies, and/or some rich asshole with a bright idea to make some bucks????? Who knows. But the worst thing for these people is to tell them they are crazy or have anxiety, yeah, you think? I have a friend who had Lupus for several years (before they knew it was a disease). Doctors kept saying she was depressed. Asked her what did you do? answer: Cried! What about many years ago the doctor who delivered babies in the street. At the time there was a 50% mortality rate in hospitals for both women and child at childbirth. The government said the doctor couldn’t do this, but asked him what he is doing different since he had a 100% success. He said “wash my hands”. He died of an infection because he was locked up in a mental institute. True story!! The health Dept and CDC needs to do something. In the meantime, hopefully what goes around comes around because obviously there is a hell.

  88. Hi Richard,
Thank you for all of your helpful and knowledgeable posts on this blog and your website. In the past five weeks I have had a problem with “bites” pretty much spread on all parts of my body. I live in a natural area in California and do have bird feeders, but I have never had a problem before. I have done extensive scotch taping of my bed at night and examined under a 4X scope. I see no signs of anything but dead skin and cat hair. It is possible that there is a rodent in the crawl space below my bedroom, but it would be a deer mice or possibly a dusky footed wood rat. The dermatologist felt it did look like a bird mite rash and will biopsy if it does not clear up. I refused all toxic solutions. Here are my questions:
Can I assume that with multiple bites all over my body that there would be plenty of insect evidence gathered by multiple tapings?
Is 4X enough magnification to identify mites?
Any other information to help me rule out mites would be helpful.
    Thank you.

  89. I have researchd every possible thing I could on my invisible bug problem and found a couple site that just pipes up after thinking it might be some type of fungus and mold spores came up and the symptoms are identical, crawling sensation, and the itching and so forth please research mold spores and check for mold spores and I also found that, bleach, borax, viniger, and ammonia kills mold spores…. please check to see if it’s mold spores, min e’er are as most gone cleaning all vents new filters

  90. Hello, I too, have been dealing with this same exact problem. Fortunately for me, my boyfriend is suffering as well, so I never thought I was crazy…GOING crazy, but not crazy! ;)

My aunt finally stumbled upon the answer, I think. I just found out about it today and went to buy bleach in all forms, drain cleaners etc. and will test it tonight. The problem, believe it or not, is mold! It produces these almost microscopic little bugs that will ruin your life! Anyone dealing with these things knows this is no exaggeration. Here is the link to the website explaining it and even offering no profit help! I hope this helps…I know you are not crazy and these ARE real parasites. If you are still suffering from them, you really should check this out… Good luck! :)

    • Yes I think the mold theory is accurate. It does feel like parasites crawling and stinging. Also any stimulant will magnify these allergy symptoms making you more hypersensitiv. Once you bsttle this for a long time dendryte grow and you are aware of anything crawling or dripping on you. Now water feels bad dripping after a shower. I hace had to cut caffine or I would be worse. Mold makes the most sense. I do not see the web site please email link to keeforu@bellsouth.net.

      Thanks

      • Hello, I emailed the link, but again here it is…for you, and anyone else on here that needs it. Trust me, you all need to read it. There is no need to feel punished for anything, hopeless, crazy, or in constant confusion and doubt…also, high blood sugar intensifies these things dramatically…just fyi, as do stimulants… I did the bleach, disinfectant, and drain cleaners and it actually works! :) Especially the can of Lysol disinfectant for my body, surfaces, clothes, and more, for an instant quick fix..anyone can email me if they would like, or need to, I feel your pain, for real! I’ll gladly tell you what I did to finally, at long last fix this! :) Good luck everyone…but luck is really not what you need…! ;)
